"LAST AIRPLANE OUT OF BOEING PLANT "

It wasn't Boeing that wanted to get rid of the building, it was the EPA that forced it in order to clean up the pollutants from way back when.

I can't fault Boeing here. They've given so much to the Museum of Flight I think they're entitled to tear down a piece of history if need be. I'm sure they've preserved important parts of the building.

It is a sad day, to see the Last of these birds roll out..
I do hope someone has the commom sense to keep enough of this Historic Building so the future generations will know what happened here and the history made here..

:salute:

Travailing in Europe, notably Greece ,and Italy..and to include other places....they tend to preserve their symbols of history...notably their buildings of importance....Too numerous to mention here but a magnet for tourists to see for thousands of years now!....not criticizing America, for we do save historic sits, but not with that intensity!..even with Europe bombed into the stone age in WW2,they still retained their historical flaver..Often new construction simulating the old!!.Just this week,in Pompeii,an old structure there,collapsed...the out roar was substainsial......Weather it was Dearborn Michigan ,Grumman in NY,with those Plants,Or Boeing,or the Brooklyn Navy Yard,.So many!..more care should be given....But,We do have the knowledge, and the documents, and the photos of those places in those times...It will have to do!.....The Twin Towers ,are going thru a recapturing of their former glory,It will never be the same....but We know all about it,and it will not be forgotton...like Pearl Harbor, and the Almo!!...And thats good enough!!

That building would have been a great place to explore. Not so much inside but underneath. There are many tunnels, offices, labs, etc. One tunnel even makes it's way out to the river.
