Latecoere 298 released by Baldy!

Sometime ago Rami asked if UncleTgt and I could make the French floatplane Latecoere 298 - well, here it is -an unusual aircraft with very complicated cockpit and gunners hatches. It also has folding wings - this would only be done out of the water in real life with those aircraft for use in seaplane tenders but I couldn't resist showing off.

As usual I've really only done the modelling leaving UncleTgt to do the real work of making it look the part and flying right - he has produced three textures - a 1940 version equipped with torpedo, bombs or depth charges ( when the Germans attacked France in May 1940 the French were so hard pressed they used the 298 as dive bombers ), a Vichy version and an RAF one of an aircraft that escaped to Malta in 1940

Latecoere 298.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - France

Description: French Aeronavalle float plane of the immediate pre-war period. Although designed as a torpedo bomber when war came to France in May 1940 the French had to resort to using the 298 as a battlefield dive bomber. (with mixed results)

After the armistice the Vichy forces were allowed to keep some as patrol/recce aircraft, the Germans took a couple for evaluation and one escaped to Malta where it was put to use by the RAF.

Baldy,

Many thanks for this! I test flew her this evening, but unfortunately can't post any screenshots at the moment, since I am making a bombing run on Belfast as part of KG 54 "Totenkopf" in my Junkers Schnellbomber at the moment...:very_drunk:

Once I tidy a few things up, I will fly the Latecoere down to the Riviera to continue operations.
