Latest & Greatest Ankor Shader Mod?

Love the water but I'm finding the reflections too harsh. The aircraft look like they're painted with high gloss paint. I'm sure it's somewhere, but can someone tell me easily how to tone down the shine? Thanks.

Is it possible to retain the wonderful new water but tone down the shininess of the planes? And what file controls the water transparency? I used to mess with it but forget where it resides now?

Hi Threedp, the shininess of the aircraft is controlled in the shaders.xml file IIRC. I don't have it here but from memory there is a single texture entry that you can turn off specularenable, hopefully someone else has the info at their fingertips. Majormagee recently posted his settings in the seawater.fx file, for the Pacific Theatre. I imagine that the same file controls water transparency when using Ankor's shaders. Can't help you with the specific settings, though.

At the top of the SeaWater.fx file there is a setting for BaseOpacity that controls the transparency. If you set it much below 0.95 you may start to see the land textures that actually lay under the water. In some cases this looks like shallows and reefs (kinda cool) in other cases it just looks weird to see fields outlined under the water.

The aircraft shine is also controlled within each m3d file. As I went from XP to Win 7 I had to hex edit every aircraft to tone down the effect to what my eye saw as realistic. The BGR intensity settings typically went from something like E5 E5 E5 (229 229 229 or very light grey) to 30 30 30 (48 48 48 dark grey).

In my RS and BoB games I get this, and the water is more green than blue. my base pacity in both games is at 0.95.
