LDR Development Ryan Navion B Released!

It will have the option for one-piece or two-piece windows just like the B model. It will also have a new option for spinner or no spinner too.
 
The A model will have both windshield types that are selectable by a gauge but it will not be a phone.

I will wait until the last minute to come up with some kind of gauge and delay the whole project release date. :icon_eek:

Holy cow! This thing's freeware! I suppose that sounds silly phrasing it that way, but honestly when I first reviewed this thread I did not note that it was freeware but later went back and noticed it was hosted in the SOH library and only then realized that it was.

I think the finest compliment anyone can pay a freeware release is to say it looks like payware. This one does!

On the front of vintage gauges, our A model, which is currently in development, is a 1950s aircraft fresh off the factory floor... so 50s instruments, radio equiptment and furnishings representing an aircraft of the time.

I finally found time to give her a try. This is a great effort, all. Very nice looking and handles nicely. I haven't tried to repaint her yet, but I am looking forward to splashing some paint on the old airframe. There are some great paint schemes one can apply on this canvas! Thanks again for your hard work.

And here is another set of textures for the Navion, this time it's a two-fer.

N66UT is owned by the University of Tennessee Space Institute and is used for flight research.

I have included two sets of textures, one showing 6UT in her current, clean and shiny state. Another set shows her in a less than well cared for state.

Here is a great "1950s" paint scheme for the Navion N30CB.

According to the photographer, Charles Schulz once owned this Navion and the CB in the registration number is in honor of Charlie Brown. The Snoopy was supposed painted on by Charles Schulz himself when he owned the aircraft. [I have no knowledge that Charles Schulz was a pilot. His son Craig was a serious pilot, and his second wife Jean was as well—she flew in the Powder Puff Derby.] In any case, the pastel colors give the aircraft the proper period feel. And the Snoopy nose art is something with which we can all identify. IMHO.

Sorry to say that my painting skills are minimal and cannot do this aircraft justice. Perhaps one of you really talented artists might want to give it a go?

Congratulations to all team members & assisting developers in making this simulation a reality. Looks good, flies & operates great, sounds wonderful! After an absence it's fun coming back to the community here to find some real gems such as this plane. Much respected & appreciated. Am into puttering these days & will be puttering around in the virtual skies this week. Will strive to capture a few good screenshots of this little plane & post them on the shots thread.

Very well done plane though it seems that every aircraft that SOH does comes out outstanding. Love this one very much along with the A 26.

Hi,
After doing a bit of flying and wasn't able to select the tip tanks I finally resorted to reading the documentation. After finding out how, the idea occurred to me that perhaps the panel GPS could be zoomed out similarly and found out that it could. I was using the popup but using the panel one doesn't detract from the simulation.
Now if there was a hot spot someplace for bringing up the Smartphone I would have no need for any Shift+X. I did notice that the only button on the TI-30 that was functional was the "On/C"; and it turned it off. I'm not sure what the Smoke is supposed to do and the porn wasn't very titillating but beggars can't be choosers as they say. All in all, I love this plane.

The 'A' model is on hold and has been for a while. I've been busy with other things (non flight sim related) recently and haven't had the time to work on it.
 
This is a great plane.
I have a question: Should there be a 2d panel? If I select "Cockpit" from the views, there is no panel, but side views are there.
Is this intentional? Or have I missed something?
