Last week we had the pleasure of visiting a new aviation museum in Port Clinton, OH. Although the museum is small it has a lot to offer. Their primary focus is divided between building (it's not a restoration) a Ford Tri-Motor from scratch, to maintaining and operating their B-25 "Georgie's Gal". (There's also a local group who are currently rebuilding an Elco PT boat.)

The museum hosts a lot of Tri-Motor related items, various vehicles and military items, and a collection of personal items of Clark Gables; uniforms, discharge certificate (surprise who signed it), other military memorabilia from his stint in service.

While there plan to eat at the Tin Goose Diner. The decor and atmosphere is right out of the 50's and the food is incredible! http://www.tingoosediner.com/menu.html

Arrgh. Right in my boats backyard. The B-25 has flown over our sailboat and I knew it was based at Port Clinton but had no idea they had a museum there.
Will be sure to patronize the museum and the diner menu looks pretty good too.

Thank you so much for bringing this up.:salute:

And if you have not been there, the MAPS museum at Akron Canton Airport is more than worth the trip.

Port Clinton eh? I used to shoot at the National Matches outside of that fair town at Camp Perry.

Interesting that they are building a Ford from scratch. That's got to be a labor of love.

Here's a Tri-Motor that I just saw at an Oregon museum.

Evergreen! It's been a couple of years since we were there but always loved it and Tillamook (with the obligatory stop at the cheese plant).

We were fortunate to be visiting Evergreen on a day when one of the men who worked on it was visiting with his son. He ended up talking about the experience for a long time.
