Lighting questions

I have a couple of questions about the FSX lighting systems.

The first question is this. How do I manually control the cockpit lighting. As it is right now the sim turns on and off the lighting depending on what time of day it is. I have the option set to control lights manually, but it doesn’t make any difference.

I’m pretty sure that I saw where somebody posted a CFG line that changes this behavior, but that was before system crash.

The second question is about the landing lights.

When I turn on the landing lights they come on, and can be seen working on the plane. However, the lights have no effect on the ground/runway. It’s almost like the light texture is missing.
The taxi lights work, but as you know they are not as bright and many planes don’t have taxi lights, so I’m left in complete darkness when driving around at night.

I have no idea when this problem started or what I did to create it. I know it was a long time ago and I am finally starting to put in some night hours, but this is a major deterrent.

Thank you for taking the time!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

If you cannot see a "ground splash" of light with your landing lights, it is most likely that some add-on has altered your "landing_beam.bmp" file. That is what I've found has happened to everyone else reporting this problem.

If you email me at n4gix@comcast.net I will send you a set of landing light default files for FSX.

My exterior lights have always been a bit temperamental in FSX. I always presumed it was a DX10 issue?

Ahhh yes Bill, thank you very much.

So back to the cockpit lighting. Brian, while I did not say in the original post that is what I do, that is what I do (CTRL L) J
.

This is where I have problems.
If the interior lights are red for example, the ctrl l or the right light switch will not turn on the lights unless it is past dusk and before dawn. In other words at the right time around dusk the interior lights will turn on, all by themselves.

I know there is an option that says something like control lights manually, and that box is already checked. But is like that box has no effect on the lighting system. For some reason I want to say that it was Bill that posted the CFG file modification that took care of this problem.

I know for sure that was before the Sim outhouse system crash, otherwise I would have searched for it.

Thank you everybody for the support,
This place rocks!!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
