"Little River Band" reminiscing....

:wave:For those of you who know this fine group, then the term "Reminiscing" will mean something.

I was working the "Little River Band" concert in Indianapolis, 1979, on their "First Under The Wire lp promotion tour .

Those guys were the friendliest bunch of performers I had ever met. After finishing sound checks, they wanted to get something to eat. The Convention Center had allowed me to park the limo backstage, instead of outside (very unusal). Well, as we walked to the car, I noticed a flat tire. The band members didn't hesitate, but decided to walk the two blocks or so to the restaurant, and asked me to join them.

To this day, I don't know if the following story is true or not. The drummer, Derek Pellicci, had a bad scar on his neck. He told me he'd fallen asleep while smoking in bed. No idea if he was joking, but I remember him telling me that, and I still think of it when I look at the cover of that lp.

Outstanding musicians, and all-around nice people!!

I love The Little River Brand, I have all their recordings.

We'll go dancing in the dark, walking through the park
And reminiscing

Yep gotta love the LRB! :) :rapture:

I was thinking of some oldies today too for some reason ... Three Dog Night popped into my head ..

Pretty sure LRB is still doing concerts. I was in Galesburg, IL in 2002 for the town's Railroad Days celebration and LRB was playing at the local college. They've done a lot of great songs.

LRB broke up quite some time ago.
Still quite a lot of ill-feeling between Beeb Birtles and Glen Shorrock, not sure why but it might have had something to do with Shorrock going solo.
They never really worked with John Farnham as lead singer so it was downhill from there.

And then there was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Liked both bands. Had several tapes of each.

Three Dog Night is great! I am always thinking of songs to go with flight simming. "Out In The Country", for example, to me would be a great song to fly bush planes with.............

As we move further into the digital age of music, one of the good things that I'm enjoying is the fact that groups like the Little River Band's albums are available in digital format allowing for their introduction to a new generation of listeners.

I know my son, age 25, has heard some of the 70's, 80's music wafting upstairs from my man-cave and had has become a fan of music he once pooh-pooh'ed as "oldies". He will regularly check out my purchases from Best Buy and a CD or two will go missing and end up in his room!

Dang it, Chief, now I've got some more songs to look for now !!:woot:

The group, "Orleans"

Got another one for you, Odie: The group, "Orleans"

I have to admit I do not have any of their recordings, but I soon will have. If you go to their site, and subsribe to their newsletter, you get free downloads, which includes the hit, "Love Takes Time". It is a great song!!!! Many other free downloads too.

I would love to see them perform live.

We have tickets to the one and only Eric Clapton concert in town next month!
Doesn't get much better than that.
:jump:

I think there have been quite a few musician tours postponded this year due to recession stuff. Was thinking of going along to see whats left of the "Who", support act Counting Crows....yuck. Personal preference I guess, but that 'counted' me out.

The only reasons I'm off to the GP next month are Corporate Tickets and 'The Who Concert' ....... :ernae:

Caught them myself in Indianapolis, though am believing it was the year before when they came to town to warm up the Doobie Brothers @ the good ole' Market Square Arena. Excellent band, indeed.
