Local Legend YS11

It's build by iniBuilds, and a link to the manual is on this page:

Both sims are covered in the manual.

This is a very nice model, the best YS-11 model ever over the generations of FS. I like the ground equipment and door/stairs options in the EFB. All we need now is a 1968 and late 70's Piedmont scheme and it will be fabulous. The sound file is the only weakness but it captures some of the sound of a RR Dart engine but is missing the loud whine and droning sound as it was approaching and passing by. I spent a lot of time around the YS-11 at and around ILM (Wilmington, NC) until Piedmont retired them in 1982. Loved the sight and sound of them. Anyone up to doing the Piedmont liveries?

I'm buying this over the weekend regardless, but by any chance is there a Piedmont livery included? I remember watching them from the observation deck on top of the old GSO terminal 55 years ago.

When I first saw the picture on my phone I thought it was an Electra ! Then my brain had already moved on to the P-3 .....

I think it resembles a Hawker HS748 really.
Easy to see why - similar airframes and both ran RR Dart engines.
Off the 3 the 748 flew first (1960), the YS-11 second (1962) and the Saab a LONG time later in 1983.
My guess is that NAMC looked at the Hawker and said "Let's make it bigger, with more powerful engines." Mitsubishi did the same thing with they took an F-16, fed it anabolic steroids, and created the F-2.

And AvAngel has already done a video on it:

Okay folks, I found a way to get more realistic RR Dart Sounds in this model but it comes from an FSX F27 sound pack made for Mike Stone's old Fokker 27 but it's a bit privative and doesn't have proper ground rpm sounds and startup/shutdown sounds may be truncated. Here is the file name from Simviation but it may be on Flightsim.com as well. Kogut-s_Simworks_-_Rolls-Royce_Dart_Mk.532_for_Fokker_F.27_series. You will also need to use auto_json which is free and I will attach the zipped file here. Okay, after you download and unzip the auto_json file here as well as find and download the needed sound file from another site and unzip it. Make sure you backup your original YS-11 sound folder and the layout_json file in the main YS-11 folder. Open auto_json and then click the file and you'll see the screen. Click the directory button in the upper right corner and point it to the YS-11 main folder in your FS2020/Official/OneStore/microsoft-aircraft-YS-11 folder and click OK. That is it. I hope someone does a good professional RR Dart Sound File for this model but in the meantime, I am going to try and find a way to mix for these old files and the base sound file and see if it can be made to work or find another better version. Enjoy.

Took her for an initial test flight from Sitka to Ketchikan, and I'm impressed. For $13, she is excellent. Great model with some nice features and extras. My only question is about the flight model. I'm definitely not an expert, but something feels a bit off when on final approach. Even with the weight balanced and the trim set, she wants to go nose high as she slows down. I don't think it was weather related, as the winds were pretty calm at Ketchikan this morning. Does anyone know if that's a feature?
Anyway, I definitely don't regret the purchase. Now, I need to go customize the paintjob.

Once I get back from my vacation to Asia, I'll be picking this up. Next we need a payware Electra...and F27 (the freeware one out right now is outstanding it it's own right, though). With FSS now confirming the 727-100 is in process, and with the family of DC-9s, we'll be nearly set for late 1960s/early 1970s fun...

I have it now - just did enough to light the fires and roll around on the ground a little. Still need to practice getting the engines and electrics going smoothly. Once I get the startup mastered, I'll take a shot at that autopilot. Doesn't look too tough, just different. Right now, I'm just tired...

Four nits to pick...
The props go to feather in just the fuel cutoff position. Every pic I see show the blades flat when parked. (I posted a question regarding this in the Ini forum.)
I'm once again all alone in the flight deck. I don't understand why it's so tough to put a visible copilot into a cockpit after all this time. (Also asked at the Ini forum.)
The engine sounds are better from inside than out - I guess that distinctive Dart screech is hard to replicate.
There seems to be a mix-up on the fuel panel. Shouldn't both sides have "MAIN PUMP" and "EMERGENCY BOOSTER"?

Edit: Apparently, they found the same site that I did with a clear pic of the overhead:

You got a reply on the forum, just use the EFB load manager :)

Does one purchase get you the YS-11 in both 20 and 24 or do you have to decide which you want?

I have the YS11 in both FS2020/2024 and bought it from FS2024 MP. I also found some nice purchased FS2024 treats in the FS2020 content manager and some FS2024 default Premiums. That is making me happy enough to get a new SSD just for FS2020 since it does not stream with DL options.
