Lockheed PV2 Harpoon for CFS2

Shessi

SOH-CM-2025
Hi Folks,

Chris Lampard has done an Fs9 PV2. It doesn't and won't have a VC, but looks very good, I can add LOD's etc, and the mdl will poss be less than 1mb, so should be extremely FR friendly. With a 2D panel perfectly 1st person usable, and I can cut that down to make a low resource AI.

Now, I know we have Milton's excellent PV2, but I've just been looking over it as an AI, and it was drastically cut down for CFS2 (which I completely understand, and was necessary). Therefore lacks detail and has a lot of obvious missing parts.

The question is it really needed in CFS2? I don't want the tyre kickers/collectors just to say yes, and then it's not used, as it's time I could spend doing other stuff. Thanks.

Cheers

Shessi

p.s And yes it will have clear glass and no modelled mounted weapons for CFS2

Mark,

If you make it so I can use it as a Ventura for the RAF, I can do the Operation Oyster mission of 6 December, 1942. Forty-seven of them from RAAF and RZNAF squadrons attacked the Phillips plant in Eindhoven, and they were used again in Operation Ramrod 16, an attack on the Hemweg power plant in Amsterdam on 3 May, 1943.

The RAF apparently liked the older Hudson better.

Shessi,
The RAAF made use of the PV2 in the SW Pacific as a patrol bomber. They were mostly used for anti shipping duties but were also sent out to search for downed pilots. If I hunt around I might be able to find the markings for the Harpoon in which one of our Prime Ministers served.
Oh yes, I almost forgot. Am I interested? :encouragement::encouragement:

Erratum....Well, I should check my facts before opening my mouth. The aircraft I had in mind was the PV-1 Ventura. Oops.

Thanks Andrew, it depends how accurate you want to be. The RAF Venturas(PV-1's) were..well...Venturas and not PV-2's and they had windowed noses and a BP turret, so quite a big difference, as Ravenna found out.

Milton,
You very kindly allowed your PV-2 to be bashed about for an AI version in CFS2, and thanks for the offer, but unfortunately I don't model in GMax. Chris, has already built it for Fs9, but as we have yours in Fs9, and as Chris's is so much more FR friendly AND is in FSDS, which I use, it would be good for CFS2.

It's good to have options so I expect I'll do it for CFS2..we'll see.

Cheers

Shessi

Mark,

If you have to do a lot of heavy lifting on the model to do it, then don't worry about it. I can use a Boston in the mission since they were there as well. It's kind of a waste for two missions, but if you were doing a Ventura, I would use it.
