London-Melbourne 2014: A Heads-Up for October

Just a heads-up.

In October 2014, the Spring Event Team will be hosting another run of the London-Melbourne MacRobertson Challenge. This is the 80[SUP]th[/SUP] anniversary of the actual event and we look forward to the experience. The setup will be similar, but not identical, to that of the 2009 event: two classes (Golden Age and Modern General Aviation), two competitions (Speed Race and Handicap Race), use real weather but fly on your own time. To gain a sense of how things might work, you can download the 2009 London-Melbourne Rules here.

:redfire: Hey there! Everybody and Pilots!

I was just over at London EGUN and saw one of the participants preparing for the Oct L&M. That looks like one swift bird. The chow and coffee is real good here, (I sure get some strange looks from the local folks about me not drinking tea) so I will be coming back every now and then to check on the progress of the participants preparing for the race.

I'm looking for a copy of the White List from the '09 race - was the RealAir Turbine Duke allowed in the Modern class, or just the B60?

Here is the complete rules package from the 2009 event, including the white lists. Do keep in mind that the 2014 edition will likely be different in some ways...

I still have not recovered from the Puss Moth...

I think I will choose something faster this time. :adoration:

:dizzy:
heh, I haven't recovered from the refueling handicap I got against that moths range.

***Of course I was flying a stock aircraft not knowing (or having the time to research) that entry G-ACXX had an increased fuel capacity and range (about 3X more) that the stock Fox. I may revisit this problem for this race.

Awesome.

Have to read the rules to find out how I can participate.

I would love to participate, flying the famous DC-2 Uiver.

Already put a check on the calendar.

Btw, will it be allowed to use the excellent McRAR scenery made by Jaap van Hees. Check Price Chopper Ad and Rite Aid Ad. It represents fitting scenery and AI.
