Looking for another Voicepack mod.

Sbob

SOH-CM-2025
I'm trying to find the "Iron Claw" call sign for VAQ-136 (EA-6B) when they were based at NAS Atsugi.
I'm not having much luck, but if anyone knows of a Voice Pack mod that uses the word "claw", I can staple together the rest. :wiggle:

Quick dirty try, hope it's okay. I'm a complete amateur, but gave it a go. Also a couple I did years ago for the BoB film fans. You'll need 'edit voice pack' to import them, etc.

Do not try to unzip them, just edit the names to remove the'.zip' (cheeky workaround to allow me to attach them.)

I like "cheeky", as long as it works. :giggle:

Thanks, I can do some "clean up" in EVP if its needed.
I've already hit another snag with the AI EA-6B's I got from MAIW.
They show up just fine in FS Repaint but won't load in FS2004. :unsure:
They were listed as for FS9 but I have a hunch they might use DXT5 format for the BMPs.

If this stuff was easy, it wouldn't be as much fun. :ernaehrung004:

D.R., your Ironclaw call sign works great. :wiggle:
I even got the AI EA-6Bs working, basically it was a small "paperwork" problem in the aircraft.cfg file.
I have a pretty custom scenery/AI group based out of NAS Atsugi. The MAIW Atsugi package, a custom install of the USS Nimitz about 50 miles northeast of Tokyo and AI traffic for VAQ-136 and VFA-195/192 (Dambusters and Golden Dragons) on the Nimitz. Put them all together and it makes for a really nice "Pre-deployment" work up. I have another carrier installed about 200 miles southeast of MCAS Iwakuni. Mostly the same AI, but I also added a VAQ-136 Growler to the traffic to act like a tanker.

I kept the EA-6B folder pretty spartan. One plane for a WESTPAC (Japan) squadron, one for a PACFLT squadron, and one for a LANTFLT squadron. I'll be peppering these Growlers into some of my carrier scenery. :biggrin-new:

If you're up for a challenge, I've been trying to piece together a Red Flag/Top Gun type of call sign with no luck yet. Either "Bogey" or "Bandit", but finding the right speech elements has been frustrating. :dizzy:

Meanwhile, in case anyone's reading who has a good background of MCAS Iwakuni, do the Marine squadrons concentrate only on air-to-air and ground attack or do they also deploy with the fleet? :unsure: I was homeported near Iwakuni in Sasebo, but we never worked with those folks.

So, just a kind of an update.
I was looking for interesting stuff over at MAIW and wound up looking through their Voice Pack downloads.
Turns out I already have the VPC collections of Alan Robertson that have been in my Downloads folder for many years.
VPC collection #4 has a VP mod for BOGEY. :jump:
I tried loading in into Edit Voice Pack and I start to remember why I never used a VPC that I always wanted (and always had).
When I play it, it comes out as "BO-DEE-AH". :dizzy:
I mean, this one isn't even close- but why?

So, I open the VPC in Notepad and see this:

<voice name="Pilot 0 (male)" phrase="Bogey">
<sound_segments>
<sound_segment identifier="AGENT_NAME BOA VISTA" start_sample="0" end_sample="1927" variation="0" />
<sound_segment identifier="AGENT_NAME CAGAYAN" start_sample="1527" end_sample="4000" variation="0" />
</sound_segments>
</voice>

This is just one of the voices, but they are all the same. :unsure:

There HAS to be a better alternative. A phrase like "FOGGY BOTTOM" would fit so much better (if its available).

On the plus side, Alan did specify that "BOGEY" belonged to VFC-13 at NAS Fallon so this would work nicely for Top Gun or NSAWC aircraft.

Best try. Odd, but I can get them sounding fine, but sometimes when I click through the voices, it sound wrong and not at all like the component parts, then when I try again, it is fine . See how they go for you.

It is appreciated greatly. :ernaehrung004:

This might have been easier if I bought the payware version of Edit Voice Pack, back when I could have. :dizzy:
As it is, I have the freeware version that makes it tough to create a new voice mod from scratch so I take apart other mods as text to get what I want.
Either that, or I still can't speak the language of EVP. :rocket:

BTW, there's another way to share EVP mods on the forum. :wiggle:

It might be more efficient in terms of forum bandwidth (??), but I'll leave that up to you Mods to figure out.

Anyway, just open the EVP in Notebook, then copy and paste as below:

Copy everything between the -----------'s, then create a new .TXT file and paste the stuff you copied. Rename the file extension from ".txt" to ".vcpmod" then IMPORT using EVP. BTW, for all the work I've done with Atsugi, I still would have never thought of your solution. :ROFLMAO:(y)

Hey! :D

For the "BOH" part of "Bogey", what about using part of "atc_type=BOEING"?
It has that "long O" sound. :wiggle:

Man, this would be SO easy if EVP listed the basic phonic sounds like "BAY", "BOH", "BEE", etc.

Something I want to try is carving out the parts from atc_type=BOEING and atc_type=CHEROKEE.
You would get "BOH-KEY" which is closer but still a little off. :indecisiveness:

D R, I think I cleaned up Bogey. :wiggle:

I used the "BOH" sounds from a MAIW VCP for "Bolar" (F-111's at Lakenheath?).
Same idea (source sound), but slightly different breakpoints. :indecisiveness:

The attached ZIP is a normal ZIP file.
