Looking for image conversion program and correct format

Hi all,

I'm trying to change one of the ui country flags and can't get it to work correctly in a way that give correct colors and doesn't distort the pixels. I know it can be done as there are a good many flags that have been successfully made. I've been using convim by Martin Wright, and tried all the formats without success. Is there anyone still here who has done this before and what program did you use and what format did you save in? Thanks for any help.

PSP X3 allows you to do anything you want... unfortunately... DDS and extended bitmap filters do not work well on it...
Nonetheless... the MW program can be used to transform a standard high-res bmp into a these formats...
You work on PSP, save as bmp... then open it with MW and effect the format conversion... actually not a lot of work...:salute:

I understand the conversion process, but could you be more specific? Which program? Convim, or one of the other dozen or so programs Martin has put together?

Also, which of the many .bmp formats is the one required? CFS3 is pretty particular, and the wrong formats (even though they use a .bmp extension) display very oddly.

Thanks for your help,

Daniel

Use martin's dxtbmp program to convert your .bmp file to extended .bmp 27 x 22 -16bit (444-4) format.

Bob

Edit: 444-4 is format used in stock CFS3.

dxtbmp is stretching the image to 32x16, causing a lot of distortion, what am I doing wrong? Also, the files I see are 27x15.

When I open the stock cfs3 uires country flags I am seeing 27x22 being called out. When you create the flag in your paint program you probably should create the flag in other than bmp format and in a higher resolution but with the same ratio as the 27 x 22 and then resize down your exported bmp copy to 27x22. (keep your original work in non bmp and higher resolution) CFS3 has some real quirkie textures and file formats. One just has to experiment until you nail it. You might also try the 8888 format and see if that gets you better results.
