Y'know... I normally see people that own such extravagant things (like six-figure wrist watches, or houses so large they require a staff of eight just to keep the trinkets dusted) and my favorite expression for them is "more money than common sense." But if I were to win a couple of powerball tickets back to back, I think I'd pick that up. That sort of living history needs to be preserved for future generations. I hope she finds a good loving home.

Hmmmm.. and it's already painted in SOH colors...

might be a bit tough just before the spring Outhouse fund-raiser tho'

Didn't Sky King fly one similar just before they took him off the TV?

Nope!

The title role was played by Kirby Grant who, according to his contemporaries, was really a pilot and did as much flying as he could in the TV series. When the TV series began, Sky King flew a Cessna T-50 Bobcat. In 1956 it was replaced with a 1956 Cessna 310B. The last aircraft used was a 1960 Cessna 310D.

The Howard is on static display at the National Business Aircraft Assn. show in Las Vegas this week, sitting in the midst of a ramp full of kerosene-burners.
