FS2002/FS2004 Mil Mi-12 Hormer. The Mi-12 is the largest helicopter ever built. The name "Mi-12" would have been the name for the production helicopter. Since the V-12 never went into production and only two prototypes were built, the name "Mi-12" was never officially adopted. By Kazunori Ito.

This is on FlightSim.com, by the way.....

I wrote to him to ask how he was and got this back (I am paraphrasing here):
"I'm fine but my eye is still not well. I had a request for the recent model and that's why you found it on flightsim.com. I'm glad I still remember how to model, however my eyes still get tired from the work. I want to continue to do modeling to stay proficient. The next project will be. . . . .the Bat Wing? By the way, there was a texture mistake in the current upload "Rotor.bmp" was in full color and not 256, a new file is being added. Please enjoy and thanks again for writing. Regards, Kazunori Ito, Fukuoka, Japan

Excellent news for anyone who has ever flown one of Ito Sans models. He is doing something he really loves doing. Good for him!!

This is just such incredibly good news; as with others, I don't mean from our point of view as 'consumers' of Itosan's work, but simply to hear that he is safe and (relatively) well after all the tragedies that Japan suffered last year. :applause:

As Falcon, and got the same reply, which is good news for him. I think he really appreciates the good thoughts from the sim world.

He also passed on a corrective texture for his latest Mi12 (that should be Homer not Hormer), for the rotor blade tex, attached here for anybody who needs it.

It's good to hear that everybody is just thankful that his eyesight (for his own sake) has not deteriorated any further.

Eye On Ito

Nice to know he can still function. It's the sh--ts when you get old and everything gets delapidated. You can't 'push' harder, either, as you might hurt yourself. I take a lot of naps (hehe). I went and tried it in FS9 and then FSX. Prop looks 'ok' to me (in FSX it hides the tress, etc, but it's not too bad). In both you have prop shadow (no biggee). Dynamics were 'ok', but I had Rotodyne FDE's (with spoiler, flaps, pitch trim, Autopilot, etc) so I used those and made a video of Mi-12 'Homer' in FSX (hope it's ok to post link).

Edit: It also has floats and reverse thrust (it's a jet engine). FDE's will be available tomorrow (will provide link to zip at host site).

Hurrah... Ito's back like a Phoenix...

I really hope all goes well again with the eyes of the ONE guy who always makes it so easy to enjoy the hobby or repainting! His textures are dead on... no need
to fool around trying back and forth to line them up with the flying model!!!
I felt so inspired, I started immediately to redo the livery (Ito is the greatest modeller but textures perhaps seem to be only of so much interest to him)
Aarigato gosaimatsu, Ito-san!

[h=2]Sugoi[/h]Well it's great to hear that's he's back and doing what he does best, who else would do a rarity like this?

Fantastic news

Kind regards

John

Really glad to know he's safe from the unfortunate events that happened in Japan, here's to Ito-San and hopefully many years of better health :ernae::ernae:

FDEs Anybody?

Ladies & Germs,
Here is the link to FDE's for Ito's Mi-12 'Homer', for both FS9 and FSX (seperate zips). His dynamics were GOOD this time (must of got help-hehe), but I wanted spoiler, flaps, and floats, so I made these FDE's. Hope you like.
FS9 link: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c23f44b/n/Mi12_FS9.zip .
FSX link: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c23f46d/n/Mi12_FSX.zip .

*There is one thing you must do. Change 'panel=hjaF' to 'panel= ' (ie: blank). Sorry about that. In FSX if panel is 'wrong' the model won't show/load, so this 'mistake' really haunts me (do it every time-hehe). Please read the 'Readme_cb' for info, tips, etc. Thanks again Kaz. Nice job.

What a piece of fun to fly! Thanks Ito San!
I have been looking for some real sound footage, but everything documented is without sound.
Such a shame. Anyway here's an 'artist impression' of what I could imagine it might sound like (Without start up+shutdown)...
