LotusSim L-39 Albatros v1.2 Update now available

It's odd that anyone is having missing textures since the paths back to the regular vanilla Lotus L-39 folder haven't changed. It should look like David's post above though in the texture.cfg file. Scratches head...

The paths were relative -- up one level and down again to a sibling subfolder -- but all within the Lotus L-39 folder. The new folder, Lotus L-39-civ, doesn't have the \texture or \texture.bump subfolders, so the old (relative) path directions couldn't find them.

On Civilian models (with gps on front console) to get the correct placement and textures in the cockpit, copy the following textures from texture.N39ED into your paint: L39VC1.dds, L39VC9.dds, L39VC10.dds

Could we achieve the same effect by making the first fallback texture ../texture.N39ED?

BTW, I dig the new winglight geometry.

Hi David, thanks. Yes you could achieve the same effect by making a fallback path to any default civilian L-39 texture folder. The main Lotus L-39\texture folder contains all the files for military versions (with gunsight) any civilian folders have their own copies of those textures I listed. Copy or make a new fallback path, either way works, whichever you prefer!

GlennC, I've been trying to reproduce your GPS turning white problem in N39ED but I can't. Have tried every permutation of modes and switches, and time of day and weather. Please let me know if it happens again. The only thing I can think of is that sometimes under heavy scenery load the default FSX gps kind of 'goes to sleep' occasionally, having its share of processor time cut off by more important things. If you can get it to happen again please let me know.

Thanks,

-Mike

Mike,

Many thanks for the up date.

Just finished re-installing all the paints, that was fun!

-Mike,

Nevermind. Someday I'll learn. After a reboot and flights in 39ED and one of the Brietling birds, I can't reproduce it.

By the way, do you think Brietling would give me a discount on a watch with proof of purchase :icon_lol:

Glenn

Cheers Noddy. Sorry for the repaint hassle, but it was mostly unavoidable I guess given all the changes required to the cockpits etc.

Thanks Glenn. Let me know if pops up again.

As for a watch discount... umm no, I don't think they would hehe. However one of the Breitling team members, Douky, is now flying it and says he's having a ball. :)

Updated screens are on my website, www.lotussim.com, in the VC screenshots slideshow on the features page. There isn't that much change visually speaking, mostly code and functionality fixes and changes, but there are couple nice new effects for warning lights and the gps on the underside of the fascia. Also a few bits and pieces have had some rough edges smoothed out. The performance of the plane though is now quite a bit more accurate, for better and worse hehe. Clean models will be noticeably quicker in top speed while the LR tanks models become a bit more difficult to throw around the sky, quite a bit more weight.

Sorry Lotus but on the FsPilotShop after login my acount and searching for Lotus, If I click on "Other Lotus Simulation Products" I only find LTS-100 Download at 45 $.

No free update at all for previous buyers of LTS-100.

Detailed, step by step instructions needed !

Thanks in advance

Hi Guy. When you log in to FSPilotshop you should be able to access and re-download items that you have previously purchased. They have not changed the version number for the file, and I'll ask them about this, but if you re-download the original you should get the new version. The zip file will have the same name but inside there is a new .exe file, with v1.2 in the name. Also when you run the new installer it will say "v1.2" on the opening screen as well.

Let me know how it goes.

Having purchased this from FSPilotshop and more recently having downloaded the upgrade...it is indeed version 1.2 despite the file name. Thanks, Mike!

Mr. Mike "Lotus,"

Thank you for the update(s), its much appreciated. :wavey:

I do have one request, since I DON'T use MP, at all anymore, can you tell me how to re-insert the vapor/exhaust/flare effects back into the CFG Files so that I can see them in the game?
Thanks! :ernae:

Sorry guys I've removed the flares from the code in the VC buttons and gauges completely. I spent days and days trying to get them to play nice. I really think there's some kind of inherent bug in the visualfx.dll file that comes with FSX (Acceleration at least) because they will work fine in the effects editor and then completely blow up in the sim, or not render at all. It isn't just multi either, they would also crash with FS-recorder occasionally and with another formation tool that is quite popular, and I had a few reports of them crashing even in singleplayer.

They can't be added back in at this point. Sorry, I liked them too, but I can't risk having a plane that crashes, however rare it might be. Hope you understand. :(

 Mr. Mike "Lotus,"
We know your doing your best but, it still hurts not to have them. :gameoff:
:crybaby:

Agreed, it would be nice to have them, and I tried everything I could think of to get them to work properly. Sometimes FSX says "no" and can be persuaded into line (the L-39 has many cases like this), but sometimes it says "no" and means it. The flares definitely fall into the latter category. I just can't comfortably leave an unstable feature in the L-39, especially one that can cause random CTDs so easily. I wish I had found out during testing, which was 80% multiplayer, but miraculously it never affected my system or any of the seven testers. In real world use it was a minor disaster. If I had known what would ultimately happen I would never have included them in the original release. Even as it was it took 10 days to track the CTDs down to them. Visualfx.dll is just *extremely* fussy.
