Macchi C.202 skins / updates posted Parts 1 and 2!

Reply...

Kurt,

Unless I'm blind, I can't see any external texture faults in your skins with the updated model...

But I have one other issue...has anyone yet attempted to reconcile Mario's Macchi loadout with the new hardpoints and payload options?

Ha,
thanks for noticing.
Kurt, since you're making the final package I'll leave that to you.
Tried a quick merge and it works just fine.

Notice that it says entered_service=1/11/41
Is that supposed to be january or november?
Either way it's wrong. Summer 1941 was it.
Also don't get confused with the prototype first flight (summer 1940)
Corrado

Really looking forward to these updates. Thank you Corrado for the plane and thank you Captain Kurt for your work.

IS4G Macchi C.202 Updated Model and Skins Posted Part 2

This is a final development for the CFS2 conversion of Corrado la Posta's Macchi C.202 Folgore.

Corrado has updated the model to fix the tailwheel, and to add a sand filter and armored windscreen via dp.

An optional dp by Misson is included having a loadout which could be used (but usually not employed in reality).

I updated seven aircraft skin refining the markings, and the sand filter and windscreen to match the camouflage.

Rami would you please replace the older posts with these updated models? Thanks.

I also added one new skin of an aircraft I could identify as using the two 7.7mm wing guns.

New accurate flight files:
Corrects aircraft performance and flight characteristics in CFS2

New contact points:
Corrects aircraft wheels contact with the ground while parked.

Panel eye viewpoint:
The model uses Morton's C.202 panel but needed to have the viewpoint adjusted so that the guns are aimed where the game gunsight indicates when used in the toggle HUD view. Corrado added bitmaps that close some visual gaps in the VC.

This is posted in two threads as I can only show you 4 pictures per post. This is part 2

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - Italian

Description: This is a final development of the CFS2 conversion of Corrado la Posta's Macchi C.202 Folgore.

Corrado has updated the model to fix the tailwheel, and to add a sand filter and armored windscreen via dp.

An optional dp by Misson is included having a loadout which could be used (but usually not employed in reality).

Updated aircraft skin refining the markings and the sand filter and windscreen matching the camouflage: Macchi C.202 70a Squadriglia, 23 Gruppo, 3 Stormo. The aircraft wears a late Breda built camouflage scheme beginning on Serie XII aircraft. This aircraft is the only one I have been able to confirm carried the two 7.7mm wing mounted machine guns. These are included with this model.

New accurate flight files: Corrects aircraft performance and flight characteristics in CFS2.

New contact points: Corrects aircraft wheels contact with the ground while parked.

Panel eye viewpoint: The model uses Morton's C.202 panel but needed to have the viewpoint adjusted so that the guns are aimed where the game gunsight indicates when used in the toggle HUD view. Corrado added bitmaps that close some visual gaps in the VC.

Updated aircraft skin refining the markings and the sand filter and windscreen matching the camouflage: Macchi C.202 MM.9036 flown by Maresciallo Luigi Gorrin (19 victories), 85 Squadrigli, 18 Gruppo, 3 Stormo C.T., Tunisia June 1943. The smoke ring style camouflage is typical for Aermacchi built machines and is perhaps the kind most commonly associated with the Folgore.

An optional dp by Misson is included having a loadout which could be used (but usually not employed in reality).

Updated aircraft skin refining the markings and the sand filter and windscreen matching the camouflage: Macchi C.202 MM.9083 flown by Maggiore (major) Andrea Favini, the Commanding Officer of 153 Gruppo Autonomo C.T. based in Sicily, 1942. The smoke ring style camouflage is perhaps the kind most commonly associated with the Folgore. The aircraft carried a unique code in Roman numerals for 153 indicating the Gruppo rather than the usual Squadriglia number. To further identify the aircraft of the commander, a blue stripe was painted around the fuselage band and the Commander's penant was carried on both sides of the fuselage. The unit always displayed its badge representing the ace of clubs playing card that originated during the Spanish Civil War period. The majority of the unit's aircraft also had a small white rectangle painted at the bottom of the horizontal stabilizer, but its purpose is unknown.

The smoke ring style camouflage is perhaps the kind most commonly associated with the Folgore. This plane had a blue band painted on the rear of the spinner which was probably the pilot's unique marking. I believe the small RAF roundel on the white fuselage band represents a patch over a bullet hole received from an RAF opponent. The unit always displayed its badge representing the ace of clubs playing card that originated during the Spanish Civil War period. The majority of the unit's aircraft also had a small white rectangle painted at the bottom of the horizontal stabilizer, but its purpose is unknown.

Kurt,

Many thanks for these, and we were on the same wavelength. I wondered to myself about deleting the older versions and thought I'd check the thread to see if you mentioned it first before sending you a PM. Well done! :very_drunk:

Fantastic series, indeed, skins, 3D model, and virtual cockpit...! :applause: ...

Does anyone know how to contact the designer, Corrado La Posta ?...

This magnificent model could have a very refined flight dynamics for take off and landing, with modeled suspensions of gears...
