Manfred's Douglas C-47 Reloaded (Beta)

and another in the paintshed at the same time:

but you'll need to have patience, small trip coming up..

judging from your Dakota textures, I tend to agree with you there...

Hey J, when I mentioned social isolation I was referring to my general personality and political opinions. lol

An addendum to my previous comments. I will be doing a few initial textures for Manfred's C-47 release, but then I'll be going off planet for a few months. Just thought I'd clear that up so as not to initiate widespread panic in the FSX community. (joking).

As for the new standard of freeware... I'd say it is. There is a lot of seriously good work coming out free... and I tell you what, I know exactly how much time, effort and sleepless nights goes into it... its a long painful process, but in the end, worth it. You may soon see what I mean.

Don't let the Vogons get you!

"Oh freddled gruntbuggly,

Thy micturations are to me

As plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee.

Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes,

And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles,

Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts

With my blurglecruncheon

see if I don't!"

Make sure you bring a chute with you... you may need it later! :icon_lol::icon_lol:

EDIT: NOT IN THE FINAL PRODUCT

Tufun, looking at that video, it seems the problem with seeing the propeller blade shape that I mentioned earlier in this thread has been sorted out. Is that the case ? It looks wonderful now !

Do you think that the white smoke persists a little longer than it should ?

The video above is just to show a badly worn out radial. Just having some fun!

Check this one out.

What's the story on the Piedmont repaint? Is it available?

Being from the South, I'd like to have it for Manfred's C-47.

Thanks.
Obie

It's a shame that FSX cannot properly model engine wear and automatically add backfires and increase the amount of oil smoke produced by well worn reciprocating engines. I suppose it is possible to create several different smoke and backfire effects and let the end user select what they like best.

Any idea when the updated aircraft will be released? I'm getting a strong urge to fly:engel016:

YAA! Roger ,Lets get this Going....For the longer the build up,the greater the scrutiny will be....This model now has an obligation to be the best ever...and it should be after all we Have heard and seen. The goal is set high here,so to our acceptance of it will be...Good men working hard to make it so...I trust they will bask in the glory of their super effort and the adulation of the Sim world..Who of course will thank them for this great Gift...I will not shave till it comes along..hope I do Not Look like Moses in the process.....Have Fun !...:icon_lol:

Manfred should be back from holiday in the next few days. I haven't heard from him since I began working on the skins, but I believe he intentionally went incommunicado. Keep a nest ready, this bird should be flying soon.

Obie, I'll post up the Piedmont skin, blank skins and paint kit when the plane is released. It will work on the C-47, but a DC-3 would be "awesomer".

EDIT: NOT IN THE FINAL PRODUCT

Don't worry, I won't Bogart any skins. All my stuff will release with the new plane. Jankees is working on quite a few skins already using my beta paint kit. You gentlemen, and ladies...hi Firekitten, won't be disappointed. Re-painters beware, this product may become addictive.

...You already have me spoiled for your "burnt-metal" engine treatment, GMan.

Geez, thanks for that Jon...
Yeah, I was watching TF's worn engine vid and thought this model may require an animated oil buildup on the nacelles and adjacent wing sections. I stumbled across a B-24 cockpit/startup vid and the pilot was talking to his co about burning 7 gallons of oil. I know how these old girls loose their mud when in service...the oil build up feature has not been approached in FSX to my knowledge.

I think the perfect skins are beautiful, but wouldn't last past engine warm up in the real world.
