Marianas

I asked UT to do scenery of the Marianas awhile back from the Japanese side and he did a great job.Finally have time to get some missions done.So far 9 are completed.The first you takeoff in the dark and go after some Betty's that have been shadowing the Fleet during the night,the second is also takeoff in the dark but attack the Japanese CAP over Saipan.

The next missions start the next day attack the airfields,mainly the AA and after the aircraft.You will be flying top cover for the bombers so the can complete their attack runs.There are 7 missions done so far for the second day so far with 1 more to go.The TF will start south of the Island and sail around it.Most of the time you will be sailing away from the Island for launch and recovery because of the wind direction.So that's 10 missions to cover 2 days.

I have other missions done but not tweaked yet,they include you flying a Dauntless in a shipping attack.The attack on Tinian is next with you flying top cover in a Hellcat again and back to Saipan for the invasion.

These missions will be flown from the Enterprise as it's part of the the Big E campaign.There will be at least one mission from Lexington because her Avengers did the first Avenger rocket attack.

There will also be the attack on Truk by Enterprise using the newer scenery by UT.these have been completed.

I'm not sure of the timeline because I have family flying out here.

Is there any interest or should it be stopped?Let me know what you like so far of what has been done.

It was done about 2 tears ago.It has the bases set up from the Japanese side.I asked UT if he would do it but we are just getting around to using it.We use a lot of his scenery for missions and campaigns.It makes a big difference.

There might be other scenery UT did you could use in your campaigns.I know Essex sailed in the same Task Force as Enterprise but different Task Group, but they attacked the same Islands.-Hollandia_UT,Palau_UT,Carolines_JBr_UT which is a newer version,Marshalls_UT,Marcus_Wake_UT_JAN20a- this has the 1941 version and the later version when the USN attacked later in the war.There are more that have some Islands you may need for your campaigns.I think Iwo Jima is in the Marianas.

We use mostly the UT scenery.

I know but we haven't done anything there yet.Right now just working on the Marianas with 16 missions covering 3 days so far.

Keeping you updated on progress.

There are 14 missions so far just attacking Saipan and an anti ship mission,most are Hellcat missions.One mission being worked on is the Avenger rocket attack.

The next missions will be destroying the airfields on Tinian with you flying a Hellcat to protect the bombers.The Japanese are flying planes to Guam to attack the USN Fleet so you have to contend with that also.This means some attacks on the Guam airfields.Than back to Saipan to support the invasion.

I'm just trying to generate some interest but the Silent Majority is speaking volumes as usual.

We have another campaign,"The Big E 44",that starts November 1943 and ends April 1944 that was never released because lack of interest.The Truk missions are from that campaign.

The Mariana missions we decided to go more in depth with day to day operations.We are using the book "The Big E" to form the missions,it does give times and locations of the TG for some missions but not all,it tells you the attacks continued for the rest of the day.It also tells what planes were used and how many of each type.Since the strike force was about 20 to 25 aircraft from each carrier the next strike took off as they were headed home to land.

I'm sure they will be flying them though. I don't get much feedback either, but I enjoy what I am doing so that's my primary motivation and reward.

We have a couple more missions done attacking the airfields on Tinian with a few more to go.After that we attack Guam because the Japanese are sending planes to re-enforce the Marianas and also to help when their carrier planes strike.These missions cover June 11 -14,1944.June 15 back to Saipan to cover the invasion.

Will be taking a break for about 2 weeks.

I know you know about how much work it takes,a lot of people don't.We usually just do updates but this time Marianas is being expanded.The first 7 missions from the original has been expanded to 16 missions with a few more to go,it covers 3 days.

The attacks on Saipan and Tinian are finished.They are from June 11 to June 13,1944 and are 17 missions.Only 1 you fly a Dauntless for anti-shipping and 1 you fly a Avenger with rockets,all others are Hellcat missions.

The next missions on the 13th will be attacks on Guam,the 14th will be attacking Guam and intercepting enemy planes being flown to Guam.After that it's back to Saipan for the invasion on the 15th.
