Martin B-26C-11 WIP Pictures

The picture on the right which shows the real seating shows the pilot and the co-pilot having what I'd judge to be ten inches apart.
The figures in your model look like they're two and a half feet apart.

the pilots are about 2 to 2.5 feet apart due to a center console with most of the flight controls between them. This can be seen in a pic from the Smithsonian museum that I took.

Measurements on the pictures and 3-d drawings indicate that the pilot and co-pilot sat about 2.6 ft from each other with the console with flight instruments between them. I re-adjusted the model to reflect that.

Certainly increasing the airflow at a constant AOA would increase the "lift" in level flight. As with most things life is more complicated. With underslung engines and a low thrust line generally added thrust results in a pitch up. As a guess a negative thrust line was used, in other words the engines pointed down a bit. Additionally a good proportion of the increased airflow would pass under the wing, which would decrease some of the lift effect from curvature of the wing.

Probably the goal was to increase the thrust/pitch stability and improve the formation flying charchteristics.

All

The revised distro has the prop texture that was missing from the original disto. It somehow got dropped in the cleanup process.

If you are having a problem with black props, please re-download. It should work fine as the revised distro has the missing texture. Sorry for the inconvenience.
