For all of you who know about or want to fly a Martin Baker MB5 in the PTO, there is a very nice conversion of the freeware ALPHA/Virtavia MB5 from FSX to CFS2 over at Simviation...

The TRA_MB5 for CFS2 is a conversion of the AlphaSim (virtavia.com) FsX freeware version. Modifications to the original MDL, DP, AIR, CFG, textures and panel files are mine. The aircraft is presented in operational RAF colors and armed with Guns Only, as opposed to the unarmed prototype. The panel includes autopilot,ECU and European GPS windows, SHIFT+2, 4 and 5.

There is also a nice collection of fictional paint schemes at Flightsim done by Nick Braden, including Fleet Air Arm and RAF versions. (The MB5 never saw combat in WW2, but had it been given the opportunity, in the right hands the plane would have been a real asset to the RAF.)

Go on over to Flightsim and search 'Nick Braden' and you'll find his exceptional repaints for the MB5 there.

Happy Hunting!

The same fellow has added a complete Drop Tank for the same plane:

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Bradin skins at Flightsim have been converted to CFS2 and will therefore give the plane 'black props'. The conversions of these skins with proper props (I like that) by Ruscoe are posted at SimV along with the other stuff for the MB.5. Search Nick Bradin in CFS2 at SimV.

You're right about that... the texture sets for the MB5 at Flightsim are for the FS9-FSX model. The drop-tank mod and the DVC upgrade are very nice additions. Good stuff!!

Never Equal

Tango has created a large body of work, but I doubt that he will ever surpass the original medium bomber series (B-25s, B-26s and A20s) that he and Sopwith partnered on sometime back. Lord, those are nice airplanes.

Does any one have just the propfix file(s) needed to get rid of that Black
Prop in FSX?

Hi R,
There is an FS9/CFS2 conversion to FSX at Simviation/Vintage and
is the conversion that looks like it does get rid of the prop problem.

Cheers Shessi

I just did a quickie Alpha test to try and see if could be used in FSX. Nowhere near perfect, but now I can see in front of me from the VC! Can't get a full circle blur, or reduce/eliminate the yellow bands yet. I'll continue tweaking it until I'm satisfied then post the Alpha bitmap. Y'all will have to apply it with DXTbmp or whatever you use to do your Alpha work...Don
