Martin Baltimore Mk. V update by Allen!

If you accuracy is what you are want...

I did note the uncushioned sunshield edge.

Can you sent me the two Oxy and Oil pressure gauges? I don't have them. Also fited the bigger panel to the VC.

Not only the is the sunshield not cushioned but those warning placards are also incorrect.
The placards (askew on the panel) are not attached to the panel itself, but rather, to the yoke pedestal!!!

Did flaps but the cockpit is not going to work. The cockpit frame area is a clusterfark... I tried for 2 hour to get it done in the VC and it was mess in game. Vertexs were welded to other tertexs they shouldn't have been and some polys were missing as well.

I can put the model up for download in gMax fourm so maybe some one else can do it.

Thanks!

Allen,

Given his work with the "Manc," why don't you send shessi a PM and see if he can help you with the model animations?

I also made a VC panel without the placard that in fact are to be positionned on the yoke column

It has nothing to do with animation. It is the model it self.

if this one is not right... you will need the actual photo and use that! I used the reference photo you
posted above by you and doubt anyone can come out with a closer look... Remember that since it is
done in 300 dpi, it can be cropped to basically any configuration and look....

Just about done with it. Compiling the needed gauges and making the read me.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - British

Description: Update of Martin Baltimore Mk V by Silvia Navarro aka Silvia Borja and ERAFFITI. Reworked to get better framerates and working Virtual Cockpit. Aircraft has new DP as the old DP and model was around 30% too large.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Other Add-Ons

Description: Model by Silvia Navarro and texture by ERAFFITI. I (Allen) at the request of Rami conveted the model back to gMax by use of Model Converter X so that the model could be reworked to get better framerates and working Virtual Cockpit could be added.

I claim no ownership of the model or textures. I'm putting the GMAX model up so some one can add a working canopy. This is the complete model with LODs and VC.

Allen,

Thanks to you and all others involved who really went to town on this, it truly fulfills a great void in CFS2! :salute:

Hey guys,

I have some tips for you on how to improve the performance of the Martin Baltimore.

1) In the aircraft.cfg under "thrust_scalar," change it from 0.67 to 1.0

2) In the airfile, using AirEd under entry "1101 - Primary Aerodynamics," under "empty weight," change the number to 15,991 lbs.

3) In the airfile, using AirEd under entry 505 "Engine CFS/FS2000 Piston Engine," change the displacement per cylinder to 185.992857

4) In the airfile, using AirEd under entry 505 "Engine CFS/FS2000 Piston Engine," change the compression ratio to 6.9

5) In the airfile, using AirEd under entry 505 "Engine CFS/FS2000 Piston Engine," change the number of cylinders to 14

6) In the airfile, using AirEd under entry 505 "Engine CFS/FS2000 Piston Engine," change the RPM Max to 2,600

7) In the airfile, using AirEd under entry 505 "Engine CFS/FS2000 Piston Engine," change the Engine Power Sound Level to 1,700

8) In the airfile, using AirEd under entry 505 "Engine CFS/FS2000 Piston Engine," change the Manifold Pressure Max to 44.3

This will give you the correct weight and engine specs for the model. I am still working on getting the critical altitude right, the Baltimore hit max performance at about 11,000 feet.

A Big Improvement!

Thanks for the tips Rami. She flies like a dream now. I had already bumped the Thrust_scalar up. With out it I just ran out of runway. But, these other adjustments, to the airfile, really turned this AC into a thoroughbred. It practically leaps off the pavement now.

Couple of questions for you though....
In my copy of the airfile, entry 1101 is titled "Flight Dynamics" and I couldn't find a listing for "empty weight". Is "Dry Weight" the same thing.
Also, I couldn't find a listing in 505 for "Engine Power Sound Level".

Worthless,

I use version 1.52. I have attached it here. And thank you for the feedback!

10-4

Thanks! I have now replaced my old AirEd with the one you provided, and changed the two items I mentioned. Much obliged Rami.

To Rami

:salute::salute:Rami,

Could you please upload a zip with the changes you made to the Allen Baltimore?

They sound wonderful and many of us cannot do them alone.

I tried with AirEd 4 times and the program does not seem save files or copies whatever I type into the next entry I want to change. Weird, or I am doing something wrong.

Thanks

Jinx,

Not to sound teacher-ish and condescending, but the way I learned how to do this stuff was trial and error, and by taking the time to learn how to do it on my own. If you follow the instructions I left in the Baltimore thread and used AirEd, you should be fine.

Jinx,
Try this...

go into your CFS2 aircraft folder.

open any plane you want.

right click on the .air file.

click on properties.

where it says "opens with" click change.

then click "browse"

find the "AirED.exe" and select it.

hit "OK".

now you can open every .air file and save it without issue. If using vista or Win7 it might be a different process.

Rami,
Are you not a teacher? :d

Okay Rami,

I will try to learn this program.

Jinx,

1) Use the AirEd version I put in the "Baltimore update" thread.

2) Look at the post where I made the changes to the numbers.

3) You can use those steps to literally go line-by-line.

4) The aircraft.cfg can be opened by a program like "notepad" in Windows. Look for the "thrust_scalar" line.

5) Make sure to read the post in this thread by Blood_Hawk.

To Blood_Hawk...thanks for the clarification. :salute:

No problem.

One little tip when doing work on air files and CFGs.

"BACK UP YOUR ORIGINALS"

Best tip I can give.

If you don't like how it comes out or you blowup on the tarmat you can always fix it by replacing them.

I do suggest that you test it with 100% difficulty/realism in freeflight. They will fly alot different.
