Martinsburg preview

LCSims did WV and NC that I was able to purchase, he also did some others that I wanted to get but was too late. He included some updated airports as well, great work if I say so myself. Hope he can get back in the game, his work was excellent and priced right. Support, which is so often lacking was right on the money, his work is missed. Don

You won't be sorry, he does great work. I went to Martinsburg this morning, in the sim, and did not recognize it as the same place, can't wait.

2 people asked for overview and diff season shots so am obliging for the last time. No more request until release date. Thanks for your patients folks.:wavey:

Excellent Don. Like the shots of Harpers Ferry/Shenandoah/Potomac river valley area. Still waiting for Lance to send mesh files. Can't wait to try it out.

I *think* your MRB will turn out better than mine, but comparing default to my revised shows a little improvement.

The photo scenery showed the mesh off really well and this one picture was one of my favorites.

Sorry for the BIG pics.:wavey:

Looking Forward to KMRB

This is close to my home airport (KJYO) and often used by students from KJYO for landing practice (because KJYO is within the DCA special flight rules area and gets crowded). As you can see from Graham's screen shots KMRB also has a military installation. Thanks to the recently departed Senator Byrd, West Virginia managed to get lots of government $$ for various types of installations. So, KMRB is home to a C-5A maintenance facility. I'm really looking forward to Graham's release of this airport!

The scenery looks great. Can't say I've ever seen any pictures to do anything for comparison, but it looks very nicely done.

Latest News

I had a few right coasters chasing my tail on the latest regarding KMRB so here's a HU quickie. I decided to hold back purposely so I can incorporate more VFR-type airports. I'd rather you guys get a package for a small price rather than just one for the same small price. The product package is dubbed "VFR Appalachia."

With kind assistance from our forum member - Jan (who flew his RV8 on many short hops in the local area), I was able to develop Seven Springs from his shots. I also got some on-site pics of my own and so far we have apart from KMRB, Moran Field (MD99 - Maryland highlands), Seven Springs Resort (7SP - Pennsylvania highlands), Nemacolin (golf and spa) Resort (PA88 - Pensylvania), and Greater Cumberland Regional (KCBE - Maryland). So what you see in FSX below is what you get from our combined cameras. More pics can be viewed here: http://islandsim.com/ and here: http://islandsim.com/new-pis-projects.html

OK, I meant to say Jay not Jan. Sorry Jay. Goes to show the fastest shooter on 2 feet don't always gets his target...lol.

and Greater Cumberland Regional (KCBE - Maryland).

Hey! Some of us Left Coasters are waiting from MRB too!:jump:

Just one small point of clarification on KCBE, it's sitting in West Virginia, though everything shows it as MD. When I was doing the photo scenery for WV I kept looking at the source asking "What airport is this?", because I couldn't recall it from doing the mesh. Checked AirNav, it said MD, but the state boundary file for WV said it was inside. Looks like Jeppesen has got the wrong data, which trickled it's way down to FSX.

I have a stub file that makes FSX list the airport in WV if you'd like it?

Flying Fun with Eye Candy

Graham has put together a fantastic package of airports if you want to get a real sense of what flying in this area of Appalachia (southern PA and MD, western VA and eastern WV) is like. The airports have a load of eye candy and are a great compliment to his KHSP (Hot springs, VA) - the highest airport east of the Mississippi! I've had the privilege to do some beta testing, but I'm still anxious for the final release because there are some airports in the package I haven't seen yet. Come on Graham "git er goin"!

Wow this scenery looks excellent!! Would provide a nice area for fuel stops on my way back home to NY. Look forward to its release... Also nice AI P-3 model.

These pics look fantastic. That region of the country is gorgeous!
I spent about three years in that area while finishing some graduate school work back in '93 to '95. Seems there was some sort of resort or major shopping area up in Seven Springs, Pa. that the"boss" ----->View attachment 24286 made me go, my arm still hurts to this day! :crybaby:

Appreciate the compliments folks.

Meshman, KCBE is situated in Wiley Ford, WV right on the WV-MD stateline. However, it gets its name (Greater Cumberland Regional) from the nearest MD township, Cumberland. I had the same problem ID'ing from sectional when planning my flight into the airport in 1999. Go ahead and send stub file to my email addy.

Btw, Nemacolin Resort is the home of the famous billionaire lumberman, Joe Hardy III. Joe founded and owned 84 Lumber. If you buy VFR Appalachia, don't go looking for his house within the golf course area, but it could be one of the big buildings there. You'll just have to take a closer look. :a1310::icon_lol:
