MAW GL Ju290A-5 I cannot takeoff the runway...

Hello,
I cannot takeoff with these aircrafts , with or without flaps, FULL engine power before releasing brakes.... = crash in the trees at the end of the runway ...
Is there something that can be changed in the aircraft.cfg to have more power?
Thanks in advance.

Emile,

I don't think the answer lies in altering the flight characteristics of this a/c. If I recall correctly from the threads concerning this aircraft and it's airfields, the Ju290 simply needs a looong runway. Nachtpiloten and some of the other ACC guys can probably tell you which airfields are equipped with those. ETO v1.30 Lorient leaps to my mind anyway...

For the forthcoming ETO 1.30 update we have put in Mont-de-Marsan specifically for the Ju-290. This has a 1600 yard long runway but we had to re-position the a/c spawn point to the very end at which you can just get airborne. Ideally you need to use a base with a 2000 yard strip but you will still need to re-site the spawn point to get a comfortable take off.

Ju 290 and others ....

One of my pet peeves with this game and soo many others is that the flightmodels make flying each plane easy. Ok, if that is what you want, but as a modeler I want the challenge of flying overweight underpowered WW2 twin and four engined planes, call me crazy!

I have modeled each of the planes that I make to fly as closely to what I have read as I am talented enough to manage and the game engine will allow.

Most allied and axis bombers needed a very long runway when loaded with bombs and fuel. CFS3 and many of the stock flightmodels make a mockery of this and all the planes take off and fly about the same. So that is why the takeoff location in the game shortens the runways by about 300 meters, so a so called 1400 meter runway is barely 1000 meters and only single engined planes should be able to takeoff from these locations (excluding some high performance twins).

The Dornier 217 series for example was grossly overloaded and woefully underpowered and needed 1600-1800 meters to take off. A fully loaded ju290 or fw200 the same. I model them this way and have changed the runways (uploaded these too) to allow for this. Even the Catalina when fully loaded sometimes required 3 miles of water to lift off (ours will not)! The B-29's used 10,000 ft runways or over 3000 meters give or take. (BTW The b-24 will require a long run up too).

The game is a simulation and in my mind's eye (which is not very good) should simulate reality to a fairly close degree. Some of this can be addressed by taxing to the very end of the runway, use flaps, WEP, and yes elevator trim and the flightmodel on hard! And of course, most allied and axis runways did not have trees at the end either....

Ah, that felt good:icon29:

Oh yes, those big birds are slow to leave the ground..
I expect this so I always chose a runway I placed into my set up at Peeneumde
For the Axis stuff.
And one at Dover for my allied aircraft that need a long runway..

I'd love to have a b-36 But it would eat alot of scenery before it ever got into the air..
And our beloved flight sims would have to be set up with a runway for it.
Like What is being done in The ETO 1.30
when it comes out ..
I can't wait..
