MAW Installation 1.3 Succesful!

UPDATE: if you are looking for a full install of MAW 1.3 the links are below, Old Tiger gave us this in a post and these all work and the installers work and complete the install...i added several updates that i found links below

Several of us have been having trouble getting past a corrupted high res texture on one of the german planes that is installed by the MAW 1.3 installer but i am beginning to suspect that there is a set of corrupted files that comes from downloading from one of the sources...i did find a full set from a fellow forum member who posted up a set that seems to be intact, i checked the file size of his, and they area ll 97.5 whereas the other ones vary from 97.1 t0 97.5 up and down and may be indivudally missing some parts. I also noted some files not found during the BAT file running installing the first part. The second installer quits about 2 mintues in at the corrupted plane texture and even after a kindly fellow member here sent me a replacement it still would not read.

So i will try again with the new set of files after uninstalling complestely the partial install. I really hope we can get a full and working set of MAW up for people to enjoy after all the work that went into it by so many. I have hoped to see this for years, but had to wait until i had a good enough system to run it well.

Just a heads up, and if this does not work i will seek help from those who do run MAW so we can all enjoy this remarkable expansion.

I found a thread online from a fellow in 2008 who battled this problem and never did solve it, in the end one of our very generous members send him the entire MAW on a DVD and that worked for him finally.

this is a copy of the texture file from that plane shared by a community member which is from his install but when i put it into the incomplete one i was trying yesterday it still did not read...

OK there is a set that works...finally managed to get a full install of 1.3 MAW up and loaded.

The links were put up by Old Tiger and this set works perfectly.

Be sure to have a clean and totally updated to 3.1a version of CFS3 on your computer first. INcluding the Mission Builder add on.

Then put all the parts of the download into one folder and be sure to have these parts present:

dr_cfs3maw_c1_v1.3.exe
dr_cfs3maw_mm_v1.3.exe
MAWsetup_v1.3.exe
md5sum.lst

Then click on MAWsetup_v1.2.exe and it will run the two installers one after the other. The first installer runs the MAW set up folders and creates the default MAW directory. The second completes the conversion and gives you the final READ ME from an online page, credits for the MAW team (thanks to all of them!!!!) and the shortcuts on your desktop for the Zapper, config file, and more.

There are two updates for several fixes...that i had saved in my archives....I dont know the details but i will attach them here too so we have all the files in one place...View attachment 11114

You mean click on Mawsetup v 1.3 exe? That is the same site I have downloaded from already twice. I will try again. Need to add Mission builder first though.

YEs if you have it all in one folder correctly, the 15 download files and the three installer files and teh Checksum, then click on the MAWSetUp 1.3 and that will run both of the installers in sucession and you should end up with five shortcuts on your desktop and a webpage with details and credits.

I haven't tried a 1.3 install yet but I have noticed a discrepancy between a file you posted and the one listed in the MAW word doc. Do you have any idea why there are two different sizes? The one you posted is a bit bigger then the one listed in the word Doc.....here is a screenie. The File you posted is 427 KB bigger then the recommended one. Maybe this could be the problem?

Hi Cheechow sorry for slow replay, was working on some other stuff

I did notice some size differnces in the first set that i had tried and failed to load with.

The links posted in my thread here which were from Old Tiger worked perfectly for me, not a blip or glitch at all, both installers ran flawlessly and the complete install ended up on my system and i then updated to 1.31 with the update that i posted here too.

The original 1.21 version should work..from what i hear, but if you do go to 1.31 you have to uninstall 1.21 completely first.

Chris I start with maw 1.10 and then upgrade to the latest version. I can report that I have not run into any trouble with my maw install for the last four years.:salute:

re the upgrade proceedure i was quoting from an Old Desert Rats 1.20 update proceedure document i have in my archives...

1) Start with a fairly clean install of the MAW 1.10 game. If you been playing the game normally since installing 1.10 then you should be able to upgrade to 1.20 without any difficulty. If you've modified MAW in any way then start with a fresh install using the 1.10 instructions.
2) Launch the MAW game, setup a Quick Combat session and click Fly to start the session. You don't have to complete the session and can exit at any time.
3) EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Before running the update installer, run the MAW Aircraft Resolution Swapper and select the "Default Resolution" button.
The Aircraft Resolution Swapper can be run by selecting the its icon in the CFS3 Mediterranean Air War item of the Start Menu:

Once the swapper runs, click the "Default Resolution" button on the right side then close the swapper by clicking the red "X".

4) To make it easier to download, the 1.20 update installer has been broken into two parts. Before downloading the files, create a folder for them somewhere that's easily accessible on your computer.
5) Download both parts of the installer (dr_cfs3maw_c1_v1.20u_p1.zip & dr_cfs3maw_c1_v1.20u_p2.zip) then put the files into the folder you created in the previous step.
6) Unzip (extract) the two files by right-clicking on each of them, selecting the "Extract All..." menu item and following the prompts.

7) Move each of the installer files you just unzipped (dr_cfs3maw_c1_v1.20u.exe & dr_cfs3maw_c1_v1.20u.D01) into the same folder like the image below:

8) Double-click the dr_cfs3maw_c1_v.120u.exe program to launch it then follow the installer's prompts.
9) When the installer Directory screen appears:

make sure you locate your current CFS3 Mediterranean Air War directory. The installation files need to be installed in your game folder which is usually:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 Mediterranean Air War
but you may have installed your game somewhere else such as on a second hard drive (D. The normal location is already selected by the utility. If your game is elsewhere, click the "..." button then browse to the correct game folder:

select the CFS3 Mediterranean Air War folder then click the OK button.
10) Continue to follow the installer's prompts until it exits. The upgrade is complete.

I have the 15 files in a folder along with the zipped installation which has the following:
MAWsetup_v1.3exe
dr_cfs3_c1_v1.3exe
dr_cfs3maw_mmv1.3exe
Mawinstall doc.
Md5sum.lst
I unzip the installation file and click on the MAW setup_v1.3 exe and follow the screens. After the second screen starts to install the files in the MAW folders, at 4% it stops due to the Bf-110 texture file.
What is the checksum? Is it in this group of files?

the check sum needs to be there to check on the size of the files.

Sorry you are still getting that error. Strange. Check the 15 files to make sure they are all intact, each one except for the last one should be 97.6 MB, the 15th one should be 84.3 MB.

My guess about my bad files sets that i had in my archive is that they had interruptions in the download when i downloaded them from Australia a year ago or so.

This current set is the one that i got from Old Tigers's links and it worked perfectly for me, finally.

I will be happy to mail you a complete copy of my installed MAW folder and also a second disk with the install files that worked for me if you PM me your address. I was able to run MAW last night fine, and tested Nach's wonderful new B-24 without a hitch.

I can't rember who sent me the 1,1o disk but whenn it got to me his address was wiped out by the post office so I could not get hold of him again,

PS: The Actual Install folder is too big for normal DVD, 4.77 GB so i have made the install disk with all the original install files and then two DVDs with the Installed folder, just combine them for the final full MAW..

I am getting a DVD set of files mailed to me by a fellow member Monday. Just got back to town this evening. You are probably right about the corrupted file. We will see if I can get up & running with what is coming via mail. Sure would like to give MAW a try!!

Hi, anyone have the fix to the bf110-g4 texture. i have downloaded from aussie site all 16 parts and the sizes match. i still cant install it. Aslo, my virgin cfs 3.1a works because my ETO was installed from that.
