well this was a walk i'm not forget for quite a while ... more on that later though.

We didnt stay long in may beck, it was like all the flys around had spawned at the same time so we walked straight out however did get a few pics:

time for the story:

Day started fine, nice n cloudy with a stiff wind and good vis, pretty nice walk, got buzzed by the grob and seeing as how i allready have tons of pictures of the tank range area i put the camera away (bugga!) then about 1/2 hour later 2 f15s flying below 100ft buzzed us, one did a airshow turn (for lack of a better term) over us then rejoined his friend and flew off, we saw 2 more later as well (same ones?).. now this puzzles me ... i never knew they flew this far up, i've certainly never seen them before, our nearest RAF bases are Leeming and Linton on ouse (bad spelling?) anyone got any info?? joint ops with USAF thing maybe?

Now this was when things started getting sticky, the clouds cleared and the wind died just at the hardest bit of the whole walk, the climbing of the sodding "improved" path (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f117/Stiz987/IMG_6294626x881.jpg). Naturally it started to get hot, 25C+ easy which isnt nice to walk in at all. However kept at it and made it to the car park at the old range absolutly nackard. Thankfull Mr Burger stand guy was there so we (me and me dad) had a cold drink and a burger and rested for about 1/2 hr ish then headed back to may beck.

) i pretty much colapsed from the heat, so we decided i'd make my way back to the burger chap and wait their whilst me dad went back to may beck to get the car. Walking that 3/4s of a mile has been one of the hardest things i've done. half an hour to just gather enough energy to get out the valley, and about another hour to get to the car park.

I dont do heat at all and out of the 7 bottles (500mls) of water i took me with i had 3 left. It aint plesent walking along nowing you'll most likely be the only one useing the path for a few hours at least. The fact theres no shelter didnt help. As you mighta guessed i got to the car park, never been so happy to see a burger van! After a few hours rest with several cold drinks and another few burgers, dad turned up and home we came.

Lessons learnt:

1, You can NEVER have enough water!
2, I hate that little valley!
3, You can never have enough suncream!
4, I doubt i'll be able to do the lyke wake walk in the sun
5, F15s are LOUD!
6, 3/4s of a mile is as good as 50 if your nackerd

Anyways, i aint going outside tomorrow :kilroy:

I don't do heat very well either. I really need to get the A/C in my truck repaired so I can at least arrive at work not fatigued and soaked in sweat.
Enjoy your walks but watch out for heat stroke, it can sneak up on ya.
 
Mutters is a cute dog! Love the name too!

As for heat, I do not like it either. If and when the housing market improves here in southeast TN, I am going to sell and move somewhere MUCH cooler.

I don't take the heat very well at all since I found out that I'm diabetic. Seems like I just can't take it like I used to.

I'd love to be able to ride my horse there.
 
Stiz,...........anytime ya' want ship mutters across the pond to me,.....I'll be there with welcome arms. He'll be treated like a pampered pup.

its pretty strange people finding him cute ..... he is a family dog ... but if your not in the family he will go for ya without much, if any warning :frown:
 
Stiz, its not farling dales but 'Fylingdales', its a BMEWS (Ballistic Missile Early Warning Site)
