May the Dark Side Be With You?

Hah. That took longer than I thought it would.

This kind of stuff is fun as freeware. I'd still love to see, say, a Star Trek shuttlecraft. But charging money for it is a no-no. These companies will generally look the other way when it comes to free fan content. For instance, both Disney/Lucas and Paramount have policies that allow short fan films, etc. as long as they are free.

I don't see much difference between this and that silly Halo thing from last year.

Microsoft owns the intellectual property for Halo.

CaptainSim does not own the intellectual property for Star Wars. If they did, they'd probably be able to afford to hire someone to build a cockpit for the C-130.

With its demise, the Thailand Fighter is certain to become a Star Wars collector item. I was thinking we were going to see American, and United Airlines liveries on flightsim.to soon.

Captain Dim is just not very bright...

IMHO they certainly were when they released their first FSX products, particularly their 'legendary' product line like Mig-21, F-104, 707 and 727. Modeling/texturing wise their work was second to non in those days. As modeling/texturing happens to come first on my FS priority list i was probabely their biggest fan.

I never understood much of the bickering and bad mouthing towards CS that was going on just about all thru their FS add-on career. Sure, if they would've been as brilliant with systems- and flightmodeling and patch delivery as they were in the modeling/texturing department things would've turned out a lot better for them. So you're probabely right, when it comes to that they were a bit dim.

No surprise that in the end they've fallen victim to the Dark Side.

I still have fond memories of the ol' Captain Sim. Always when they released a new model and i was very exited about it i made sure i wore no socks because i was absolutely sure they would've been blown off upon first looking at the new model. Typical jaw on the floor experience.

With this truly pathetic and helpless move to try and scrape some money from the bottom of the MSFS add-on pit it is clear that Captain Sim is dead..

Hello AT Simulations ! (well, for one..) (wasn't CS from Ukraine as well ?...)

My understanding is that CS lost their resident 3d model and flight model people years ago, which is why they've been reduced to just rehashing old external models stapled to default VC's and flight models.

The fact that anyone at CS was dumb enough to this would get past Disney is absolutely hilarious, since Disney is famous for being incredibly litigious towards anyone that even looks like they might try and infringe on IP owned by The Mouse.

CS is from Ukraine, right but ATSim is from Russia however (which is praiseworthy) will leave Russia after February 2022. :encouragement:

We've had a laugh over this, but since the product was pulled in record low time, I'm going to close this.
