Maybe THIS could be Canada's next fighter... Supermarine Spitfire going back into production?

A company has created a prototype of a brand new, full-size two-seat Spitfire. Modern construction for durability and to keep costs down ($775K vs millions for an original.)

Pretty cool concept. With another P-51 down this weekend, we really need to start thinking about preserving these 80+ year old planes. If you could build a physical replica that can show off what a Spitfire looks and flies like, with safer construction and no history to be lost in the event of a crash, what's not to like? I love seeing a warbird as much as anyone, but we're losing more and more of them, so I'm not going to argue "it's not the same!"

I've walked around the 3/4 scale Supermarine MK26 at an airshow and would good enough for me. I hope the Scalewings company has enough success with the SW-51 that they look to other models. Not sure if the full scale $650k hand built Spit here in AZ was ever sold.
