• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Highpockets,

Yes. You have to do it manually. Cut and paste.

HP....

I did mine by the authors name. That way I knew where they came from and could keep track of them. I attached mine so you can get an idea of it. I tried a straight alpha list and it became too confusing as to what was original and what was a add-on. Besides it became a real PIA to do.

Its not too tedious

Hi Hipockets
Manually checking for duplicates is not too difficult.
1. Make a backup of the mdlnames (just in case)
2. Open the file in wordpad or notepad
3. Select All
4. Cut
5. Open WinWord (I have WinWord 97)
6. Paste
7. Highlight the text
8. Go to 'table' in the toolbar
9. Press 'A-Z Sort', this will sort the lines alphabetically.
10. Check for duplicates and delete them
11. Copy
12. Paste back into the wordpad or notepad file
13. Save

It takes less than 5 minutes
Your word program may do things differently with regard to the 'sort'.
Good luck

Your suggestion worked! It took more than 5 minutes because I had a mess.

Fibber, I like your idea. Wish I had known how to do that before I started. Next time I start a new addon, I certainly will use your idea:applause:

Thanks to both of you.

your welcome.....

...it actually was a offshoot of something someone one posted here a long time ago that gave me the idea to actually list it by the addon and authors name. I did find out it was easier to keep track of the add-ons' that way. So I can't take all the credit for it, so to paraphrase the late Jimmy Durante " Thank you forgotten helper, wherever you are...":icon_lol:
