Memorial Day

Jagdflieger

Jr. Admin
The last Monday of May is reserved for Memorial Day in the USA. Unlike Veteran's Day, which is shared with many of the Comonwealth countries, Memorial Day is based on the US Civil War and is thus reserved for American veterans of all the wars and conflicts that we participated in.

I tend to place all veterans in the same honorable catagory, so if you served, then the best to you and all our other veterans down here in the basement.

Note about the living artwork Jagdflieger posted,

During the WW I years, Arthur S. Mole and John D. Thomas made some incredible human pictures by using 18K (thousands) sailors or soldiers in uniform to create images.

I wonder if a new attempt of a peace of artwork like this is on the cards.

Always remembered.
RJ

Everbody,

Have a great Memorial Day weekend and please take a moment to spare a thought. :USA-flag:

To fallen soldiers let us sing,
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing,
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord

No more bleeding, no more fight,
No prayers pleading through the night,
Just Divine embrace, eternal light,
In the Mansions of the Lord

Where no mothers cry and no children weep,
We shall stand and guard though the angels sleep,
Throughout the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord

Cheers,
MR

Good afternoon.

A big hearty thank you to all those who have fought, whether they lived or died, to keep our nations free! :salute: :USA-flag: :salute:

All it takes to remember what America and her Allies did for the free world is a quick peek at the size of WWII military burial grounds throughout Europe.

Here in Central and Southern Italy we have many of those cemeteries, way too many. Visting one of them is quite sobering, but I can assure that none of them is left unattended or that fresh flowers are missing at any time of the year.

My homage goes to all veterans who fought to bring peace back, to keep freedom and civilisation alive.

:salute: :USA-flag:
