Where there are these odd gaps, the default mesh will show. Unless there is a large difference, you wouldn't notice.
I actually informed simviation of this many months ago, but I never got a response. The files need to be redone, or removed. Seriously, there is no excuse for it. The resample tool from Microsoft does a perfect job of resampling... so it had to be the fault of the developer. He used a bogus INF setup or botched batch file setup.
Making this mesh collection must have been tedious, but all terrain work ( mesh, landclass, waterclass, photoreal and LWM/VTP ) should be checked in TMF viewer before releasing it to the public... otherwise what you get is something as silly as this simviation mess.
The mesh could have been perfect, but the developer chose not to check his work. That tells me he really didn't know what he was doing... and that tells me he really didn't check for holes or spikes. He just used STRMv2 data which claims to have filled holes and spikes... but really hasn't fixed them all.
I know FS mesh, having worked with it for several years. Justin Tyme ( FSGenesis ) has reliable mesh for sale at a reasonable price. I just make my own.
Why don't I release mesh? I don't want to hear about water climbing hills, or the airfields being in holes or on plateaus! Every mesh developer has had to deal with this, and to do the job right, you would have to redesign all the elements of CFS2, FS2002 and FS2004 to match the mesh. That would actually take years.
FSX has already used a better default mesh, and other elements, and it is easier to resolve mesh difficulties for both the developer and the end-user. Good job, MS!
