Message regarding Computer Pilot Magazine

Francois

FS Veteran
Dear Flightsim Enthusiasts, Readers and Customers,

I would like to inform you that I have stepped down as Managing Editor of Computer Pilot (Magazine).

As you know it is one of my hallmarks to deliver quality goods and services to clients. For the past 7 months I was actively engaged with Computer Pilot Magazine, its website, PR and forums and working day and night to get CPM back on its feet again.
Unfortunately there were many unforseen deterents that were not under my control of which I was unable to provide solutions to.

This was one of my 'dream jobs' and I am deeply sorry that it is not possible to continue at this point.
I still believe the magazine has much potential and with some drastic changes it may still live. I wish it all the best.

I will 'return' to, and re-focus again on, my own business in the flightsim industry: FSAddon Publishing, SupportMyFS, AVClassic, WhyFly.aero and my web-design work.

You can always reach me via the website and forum at www.FSAddon.com, our shop at www.Silvercloud-store.com, or any of the other many places on the Internet that I frequent. Also, my private email is at your service at francois@fssupport.com.

Working on NEW projects already and excited about continuing to serve this wonderful global FS community of ours, I remain

Respectfully yours,
Francois A. 'Navman' Dumas

Sorry to hear of your departure Francois. Your passion for our hobby is appreciated. Best of luck to you in your many endeavors and good luck to Computer Pilot magazine.

While not meaning to come across sounding negative, you give the impression you are better off, Francois.
From what I've read and seen of your abilities that you produced for FS2004, and what you're capable of producing, you are your only boundary.

Here's to your future thoughts and ideas. Whatever they may be. :icon29:

I just received my edition of Computer Pilot. It is well done. I hope they keep turning out equally good editions. It had better info and articles than in the past. Some issues were just advertisement after advertisement. May your touch remain on the magazine. May you have a positive influence on all of your endeavors. (The picture of you in the Mag is soooo much more serious than your avatar :mixedsmi:.) The best in all of your endeavors and keep on doing what you do best! You are appreciated!:salute:

Daniel

Look at under my Avatar, I really am a thankless so and so.

Thanks guys. And for the record; although I am truly passionate about aviation in general and FS in particular, I just cannot afford to NOT make a living somehow, so had to take this difficult decision after 7 months dedicating most of my working and waking hours to it. Wish things were different.

As to subscriptions, and anything else related to CPM for that matter, please contact the publisher.

Is Computer Pilot not available in stores anymore? Used to be I could pick up the occasional copy at my almost local Indigo bookstore, but I haven't seen it there in years. Bizarrely only last week I came across several copies of the UK mag PC Pilot in my local SaveOn Foods Supermarket! I bought it for hugely inflated sum of $12.99CDN + taxes yikes, only to be disappointed with its content. There is little that mags can offer these days which hasn't been available on the internet for several weeks and usually for free. CP was always superior when compared to PCP but it too suffered because of the Interweb. :wiggle: All my opinion of course but magazines unless they offer something special or eclectic have to be doomed. Newspapers too, haven't bought one since 2004 when I had to take a train ride. For the X-Word you understand. :icon_lol:

Computer Pilot already was 'in trouble' under the previous owner and not in bookstores anymore (except a few selected ones).

It is the manifest freedom and duty for every person to earn his living and pay his bills and to be free in deciding how to best do each. In today's world, running a print magazine remains among the most difficult of businesses to manage. I have no doubt you gave it all you had, and that what you had was all anyone could give. Sorry to see your disappointment, but best of luck with everything else you do.

Cheers,

Ken
