There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.
If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.
Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

For me, the time is fast approaching when I won't need a Windows box anymore...
Gordon,
I have great respect for you given the work you have done for this community... but i have to ask. Why in the world would you trust any of your work to a MS operating system?
The simple answer to your question....I take things day by day. If I can negotiate the pitfalls of the "global village" without selling my soul...I'll be launching the new company this year. If not...I'll find a nice quiet piece of dirt and grow my own food. lol
OMG, it feels so much easier now that I know I don't have to be the only one on the only network... to broadcast to the world that MS is nothing more than a bunch of low-life scanks...
Not sure if I'm getting all this anti Microsoft drama..
I'm sure Google knows a lot more about us, Gmail, search, Facebook, etc. I'm sure that those Android users amongst us also just allow updates to happen. Our GPS tracks wherever we are, our mobiles do as well.
So, I'm actually quite happy having the latest software that is optimized for modern hardware. Works for me.

I should also add that it's a Very Big Deal to every Motorola, Kenwood, Macom/Harris, and Icom service station in the bloody world! There are millions of "legacy radios" still in use, and the programming software for them is ancient, and will never be 'updated' for any modern version of Windows. Some few still require DOS v3.1 for heaven's sake!Dave, a lot of the software I use simply will not run under Win10. For that matter some won't even run under Win7 either. I have to keep a WinXP machine running for certain older Kenwood and Motorola radio programming suites.
So yeah, for me it's a Very Big Deal.
Every thing you mention is something you chose.
Win 10 may be the choice for some but MS is pushing hard to force it on the consumer whether they want it or not.
One has to actively work to not have it. That is the biggest issue, not Win 7 vs 10.

You must be referring to the constant nagging to "Upgrade" to Windows 10....
We HAD a Vista machine before it died a bit over a year ago.
We have a couple operational Windows 7 machines.
This machine I am on is a Windows 8.1.
My daughter's new machine is a Windows 10. Another OS was not an option for this machine.
I hated Vista at the time but it seems after the fact to be the best of all the options.
The Nag software is actually an optional update for Windows 7 and 8.
After having disabled it and deleted it and having it constantly come back,
we now choose to download ONLY Windows Updates. No optional updates.
We choose WHEN to install the updates. (Don't like the machines shutting down while we are working.)
The Nag ware hasn't come back for months now.
If the nagging bothers you, I suggest you configure updates like we do.
- Ivan.
It is precisely your "not getting" it that M$oft is relying on.
And about that latest software that is optimized: Evidently you haven't heard those here whose software was trashed.
Oh, well. We get what we deserve because we simply accept it like the frog in the pan of water.
