Mid-Size Twin

I'm in the market for a mid-sized piston (non-turboprop) twin aircraft, seating around eight (8) or so. On that note, I was looking at the FSD Piper Navajo, but I wasn't sure if it was FSX-native and/or fully compatible with FSX:Acceleration. The website says it is "compatible with FSX", but technically I can get an FS2002-era aircraft to "work" in FSX, but with the prop behind clouds issues and other problems. I know the Navajo is older, but is it FSX-native without visual issues?

Also, does anyone have any other suggestions for mid-sized piston aircraft?
I have such things as the Flight1 Islander (a bit slow), Carenado Seneca and Cessna 340 (excellent, but looking for a bit more passenger capacity).
 
Well, they take only 5 passengers, but MilViz's Beech 55 and RealAir's piston Duke are both good, I have them both. MilViz model model is goregous looking. Also with five passengers Carenado has C340, B58 and Piper Seneca II. I don't have any of those, but Carenado makes decent models.
 
Twin Otter's are by majority all Turbines. If I would recommend it would be the payware Aerosoft Extended Twin Otter. Carenado is the way to go for any 5 passenger piston/turbine jumper. I personally love there B200 Kingair.
 
As stated, I already have the C340, Seneca, and Islander. I also have the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended, and the Carenado Caravan.

The FSD Navajo seems to fit in perfectly to what I am looking for, but I'm not sure if it works with FSX Acceleration without visual issues, so if anyone here has the Navajo in FSX Acceleration and can report on my factors outlined in the original post (preferably with screenshots) it would be appreciated.

At this point I'm also considering the Carenado B200, though it's a turboprop. (Not going for the Flight1 version right now due to cost)
 
I can't think of many non turboprop's that seat 8.... much less ones modeled for FSX...

Were short on the twin cessnas like 402/404/414/421

I bought it quite some time ago, and it's non native and rather dated IMO.

There's the Carenado C90 as well if you will consider a turbine. I flew them for years and Bernt made it fly just like the real one.

Yeah I don't think you will find a lot out there, at least in the non turboprop category. The PBY should carry at least 8 tho it isn't very fast. If you don't mind two extra engines, the B-17 should carry that many, and some of your passengers will have .50s to play with. ;)

You might consider your runway requirements too. I had the F1 King Air for a little bit but returned it. It was fantastic airplane and well worth the money. I would recommend saving for it if a King Air is really what you want. I returned it because it was unable to meet my needs for operating out of small airports under 2500' runway length with full fuel. Since I fly to those types of airports a lot, that King Air wouldn't be flown enough to justify the cost.

For me the Turbine Duke is the perfect plane for that job. I think the Carenado C90 does the job pretty well too and should meet your seat requirements.

You might also consider waiting for the Milviz Mu-2, KA 350, or the Razbam Merlin. For a freeware alternative, Manfred Jahn's Basler BT-67 or C-117D would be great choices.

As it has been stated earlier, there's really not much out there for mid sized piston twins. Thankfully there's a whole bunch of really nice turbines out there. The new Flight1 B200 Super King Air has replaced all of the other single and twin turbine aircraft in my hangar. It is the real deal. The Carenado C90 King Air isn't bad either, but it isn't quite in the same category as the F1 B200. The Carenado TBM850 is also quite nice, though it is a single turbine.

I used to want Flight1 to redo the Cessna 421 for FSX, but now that the B200 is out I couldn't care less. I will log hundreds of hours on the B200. Absolutely awesome aircraft. :applause:
 
Thanks for the recommendations. As is evident, there is a mid-size non-turboprop twin gap (Cessna 404, Piper Navajo, Beech Queen Air, etc).

On that note, I will likely wait and see what aircraft appear in the future. Thanks again for the help.
 
I'm modeling a Chieftain that fits perfectly with your wishes but I need help with close up reference pictures and I haven't had any luck...

Don't forget Milton's Aero Commanders, though I don't recall if any of them are the six seaters. There is also his COD passenger version of the C-1. I don't recall if his H500 is FSX native. I think he did make an FSX model of it.
 
Rob Richardsons Beagle Basset- seats 5-6, Robs Twin Pioneer, a bit heavier, ISTD's KingAir 200. Is it Brett Hoskins or Alrot that did the fsx C-310Q? All freeware. Robs Ambassador and Piglets AN-32 at the heavy end of the medium twin. Oh! that little An/PZL Milec-28 at Avsimrus- very sweet, really like the MPA version and the 3d illuminating spotlight.

Yes, we need a Queen and a Navajo and an Aztec as well. A new 421 would also be a nice addition too!

An addendum because I goofed. The Basset is 6+2 if 2 pilots, or 7pax+1, and gear. It was designed around moving V-bomber crews to dispersal. And it will land aboard, and fly off! Terrific little twin!
