MiG-21F13 released

2 and 13 are the same switch, I put them both on there so the order is known. :wiggle:

As for the hangars, that could be any russian milbase.

Thanks for the info about the hangars. I have not checked my scenery objects, but those are really nice hangars. If I don't have them, ....I'd like to find them somewhere, if available.

I mean they're add-ons, for sure, but there are many possible airports / addons it could be from, it'd be hard to find the exact one.

Thanks. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will have the scenery and reply.

Update: I emailed the designers associated with that site. Am sure they will give me the information!

Thanks Alexander, got it working now.

But you can certainly tell the MiG-21 was designed as an interceptor. Seems to have the turning circle of a small planet!

Inner circle: F-16 @ ~350kias
Middle circle: B747 @ ~275kias
Outer circle: MiG-21 'Venus' @ ~350kias

Somewhat more challenging keeping it in a smooth turn, too!

Once you get it up this is a very nice jet. :applause:

Ever since i first played Dogfight on the Amiga 500 i have had a fascination for the MIG 21. In that game it was a superior plane, it was intended to be fighting against the F-4 phantom but you could take it on against other airplanes too and you could even take down the F-16 with it. :icon_lol:

Back in the late 1970's, when we were still fighting the Cold War with the USSR, I attended a Red Flag. They had a MIG 21 at Nellis, AFB.

I remember how small the cockpit was. My 6'0" 200# frame could hardly fit. There was no way to look behind you, except with rear view mirrors, which really suck for finding someone about to hose you from the six. I had a sense of claustrophobia.

I figured that is why Russia gave so many to China and North Vietnam. They could fit in the cockpit. It did its job and was a good adversary.

Funny you should mention that ,John, as today my postie has dropped off my copy of Red Eagles America's Secret MiG's by Steve Davies (no...not the snooker champ;) ) which highlights the black program involving the testing and evaluation of soviet aircraft by 4477th Squadron.

The MiGs of area 51

Thanks for the pictures and tutorials.

On this topic I found this: http://area51specialprojects.com/migs.html

this is rather tricky to start lol especially when you can't read the controls lol but I seriously think this model and cockpit has been really well done so thanks for the heads up on it!!

I don't even know if I have time for this mess. This is very detailed and potentially fun freeware, but it's not worth trying to make switches that don't move move for a half hour.

Nice model ..pitty I cant be start ..Switches 7,8,9,10 are not moving so the start up procedure is usless..CTRL+E not working either .Beautiful but extremely frustrating so it,s not a keeper for me either. So sad , it had the perfect layout for phototextures.

wait

A suggestion for engine start--

WAIT for it to show on the N1 and N2 gauge, it takes a couple minutes, or so, then wait again before clicking 13 (2) which removes external power. Slowly advance throttle before going past 100% and into AB. That seems to work for me.

I wonder about the elevator flight control, too.
