I'm surprised this isn't a sticky yet...

Anyway...took her up for a flight from Helsinki to St. Petersburg (with a high speed supersonic run over the Gulf of Finland :gameon:)

Very nice hop with some cool scenery for anyone looking for a short flight.

This is an amazing piece of freeware. Thanks much for this one!!

Thanks Yago!

Tried it in FS2004 too. Won't work. Is there any chance to have one for FS2004 too?

I am having a problem with the Landing Gear not wanting to go up and stay up. FSX Acceleration. Anyone else?

Can't comment on that since I'm "just" a SP2 user, but maybe you've tried to retract the gear while going too fast?

This really is such a good addon the repaints are amaising and that new afterburner has fixed my sticking throttle problem, absolutely brilliant now I'm really happy thanks guys!!

I can't seem to find that Israeli paint though will look again tomorrow!

For your information

My Mig-21F-13 was first totally unflyable
No elevator authority at all

Stick full back gave me a maximum of 5 degrees AOA just
to be able to a take off but do not try a looping it will
take 100,000 feet minimum to reach the top !!!!

I then reflown Pierre Marchadier's GMax Academy Mig-21Bis Fishbed N to compare flight caracteristics.

GMax Academy Mig-21Bis is in my mind more realistic and it is possible
to fly it.

This being said I made some trying and error flight tuning to the
Mig-21F-13 to mimic the flight caracteristics of the GMax Mig-21.

My final modification presented below is probably closer to reality
I can bring :

I change the elevator_effectivness ratio from 1.000 to 3.000

On the Cfg File you replace this :

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar=0.600
pitch_stability=1.000
roll_stability=0.504
yaw_stability=1.174
parasite_drag_scalar=0.330
induced_drag_scalar=0.850
elevator_effectiveness=1.000
aileron_effectiveness=1.900
rudder_effectiveness=1.000
elevator_trim_effectiveness=1.000
aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.000
rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.000

By this :

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar=0.600
pitch_stability=1.000
roll_stability=0.504
yaw_stability=1.174
parasite_drag_scalar=0.330
induced_drag_scalar=0.850
elevator_effectiveness=3.000
aileron_effectiveness=1.900
rudder_effectiveness=1.000
elevator_trim_effectiveness=1.000
aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.000
rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.000

I coud be totally wrong about the real flying caracteristics of the
F13 but really......I do not care.
At least I can fly my "F13" with someting closer to the GMax Academy Mig-21Bis.

Would somebody please do paintkit for this :jump:

Amen to that...........!! Is there any possibility that the original artist could put out a layered paint kit?? This is one of the very best metallic finishes I've ever seen - congratulations all round!:icon29:

Same here, until I used the trim.
With a good dose of back trim, the plane would behave correctly at takeoff.

Correct.

You need to put some aft elevator trim in prior to take-off. Once you do this the elevator control is fine.

Thats all it is, Trim, same as the real jet and most Russian jets previous to this one, they all have a nose down feel on takeoff because most of them were rear heavy so to compensate all they did was make sure on take off the nose wanted to go down, this must be corrected by the pilot just before you start to pull up the flaps and ofcourse the other way around for landing, personally I think the flight model is great and very realistic when compared to the video's ive seen of this jet manouvering and books Ive read from people that have flown it its quite accurate!
The only thing is that my cabin light is not working anyone else had this problem I'm defintaely hitting the right switch!
