MiG-21MF

SOH-CM-2022
Have greatly enjoyed the MiG-21MF recently uploaded by Mehlin Rainer. I would have contacted him through 'flightx.de' but my German is not up to it and his English is at a similar level.

He recently up-loaded a 'Beta2' update containing 3 models and 2 new air files.

Last week he up-loaded updated textures to enable previous re-paints to utilise the newer models. Looking at the updated texture files, it appears to enable the display of a model carrying UV-16-57 rocket pods on the in-board pylons and ATOLL IR AAMs on the out-board pylons.

The three models in 'Beta2' only enable the display of either a 'clean' a/c or one with triple drop-tanks and ATOLL AAMs.

Anyone managed to produce the rocket pod and AAM model?

Also I get no a/c showing at all if I utilise the 'MiG-21MF_ACM_model.air' file.

Anyone else flying 'flusirainers' excellent a/c having the above probs?

The model serves only to display the textures in the Aircraft Container Manager.
The BETA2 model was produced with FSDS3. Because arise when converting the FS model misstatements, 4mm problem, it is built on a scale of 16:1.
In the simulator it is represented 1:1, but there are internal model remains the scale 16:1. Therefore the model in the ACM will not display correctly.

The "'MiG-21MF_ACM_model.air" file is deliberately configured so that the aircraft in FS can not be loaded.

Thank you for your quick reply to my queries. I surmise that from your information that:

Air Files
There are two air files (one for a 'clean' a/c and one for a weapon or drop-tank loaded a/c)?

A/c Models
There are 3 models:

ACM for repaints
MiG-21MF_camoflage
MiG-21MF_metal

Having tested all of the above models I have identified that:

'ACM for repaints' and 'MiG-21MF_metal' models give me a 'clean' a/c configuration.
'MiG-21MF_camoflage' model gives me a triple drop-tank model with two AA missiles.

Your updated textures for the Beta2 MiG-21MF show a rocket pod and AA missile configuration and this is the configuration I cannot display. Is there such a model? and what do I have to do to display it?

Thanks again for this a/c. It provides a real feeling of flying this generation of jet combat a/c. Demanding, absorbing and rewarding.

Actually you are missing the greatest trick this particular package offers.
Read through all the posts and you will see that the load out is very much configurable.
The best use of the MS load management I have seen to date.

By adding specific weights to the stores you get a specific load. Missiles, aux fuel etc...it just depends on what number you enter in the field.

IF you do add aux tanks make sure they also have fuel assigned in the fuel management, and if you do not have aux tanks then make sure their respective fuel quantities are set to zero.
If this doesn't match up the model is designed to block throttle movement.

Very very clever.

Cheers
Stefan

The display of weapons and tanks is controlled by the Payload menu.

Droptank 35kg (77lbs)
Pylon: "left out" "body" "right out"

UB-16 97kg (214lbs)
Pylon: "left in" "right in"

R-3R 114kg (251lbs)
Pylon: "left out" "left in" "right in" "right out"

R-13M 130kg (286lbs)
Pylon: "left out" "right out"

But, beware!
When the drop tank on the pylon body is not visible, then allowed to Externa1 no fuel.
When the drop tanks on the wings is not visible, then allowed to Externa2 no fuel.

If the other way around, then the incorrect fuel / payload configuration. The thrust levers then blocked in IDLE.

Thanks for that excellent explanation.

The prob was all mine. Not reading the manual/instructions and altering the load config in the a/c cfg file to meet my own reqmts.

Did not presume that you had so skillfully enabled the software to change the wpn load with the dialled in load on the a/c load manager.

Many apologies for wasting your time and thanks again for an excellent MiG-21MF.
