In summary I did well relative to the plan.
Good winds helped, or didn't hinder, and I was about 9 hours better than the original flight plan. Could have shaved about an hour off the total with a bit more daring on the early legs and that might have gotten my time to be better than that Sick-Horse-Key but I'm pretty satisfied with the results for a 130HP, 110Kt prototype single-engined tourer.

I hear they have a thing called the "King's Cup" and I might have to investigate that as it's a lot shorter than a trip down-under.

The Kings Cup post WW2 is a short circuit handicap race, but pre-WW2 it was I believe a two day event, the first day being about 1100 miles requiring navigation 1930's style, I think following that elimination there was a short circuit race on the second day.

I took part as 'navigator/ballast' with my father in his Proctor in the late 50's for the elimination events as well as some Kings cup races. Usually about 4 circuits of a rectangular course for about 30 mins flat out!
Those were the days
