Milne Bay missions install

highpockets

SOH-CM-2025
I am still struggling with getting A/C to intialize. In trying to use the P-40e RAAF AI, the folder name matches the mission name but the model.cfg file shows the model to be p40ev5 as does the mdl file. Should it be a P-40e AI ? I loaded per instrucions using KM_p-40E_v5 and changed the folder name and added theair.cfg, air and dp files from the instructions. The air. cfg file title = kittyhawk 1a RAAF AI, sim=p-40e, model=E
I am thinking of just deleteing this particular mission and A/C set and moving on since it has been around since 2002 or so.

If the folder name matches the name called for in the missiom things hould work but I have messed with aircraft that use mulit [fltsim.#].

Try a coply and pase of a basic aircraft like a stock one and give the folder and aircraft.cfg title the needed name and see of that will work.

Highpockets, the error is in the aircraft.cfg of the P40E_RAAF_AI

Make the following change:

[fltsim.0]
title=Kittyhawk 1a RAAF AI
sim=P-40E
model=E <<<----- delete the "E"
panel=
sound=
texture=E
KB_checklists=afm_p40e_check

Now everything should show up.

What the "E" means

model=E means you need a folder called "model.E" for the a/c to show. That's why the texture folder is named "texture.E".

Hope this helps.

Those fixes did not work either. I even loaded the Milne Bay into a new install and no joy. I am removing all its contents from my D.O.A. sim and moving on. Too much time on this issue and plenty of missions to fly in this and many other theaters you geniuses have built! :applause:

One last thing: The assorted missions call for the following models alternately or together in some cases:

P-40E_RAAF
P-40E_RAAF 77 sqn
P-40e RAAF AI
P-40e RAAF 76sqn
P-40E RAAF 75Sqn

As in the case of my setup, your models may be panel and/or sound aliased to the player P-40E_RAAF model. If this is so then this model must either be present in the A/C folder at all times of the campaign play or each model must possess its own panel and sound including the 'no-show' AI model, which is setup to not show in the aircraft selection menu.

The P-40e Raaf ai is always in the sim A/C folder. I was having issues with nearly all the missions in the sim with not only the AI but any mission with both 75th or 76th sqn P-40.
Thanks for the input. I may take a look again sometime later. I was using Guy's instructions using the KM_p-40e_v5.

Sir, i think you misunderstood me. What i meant was if your AI model, the 75th model or the 76th model are panel and/or sound aliased to the player P-40E_RAAF then the player P-40E_RAAF has to be in the A/C folder in addition to the AI model, the 75th model or the 76th model.

I gathered from your posts that the P-40E_RAAF AI was in its correct place, but is it aliased in any way to the player P-40E_RAAF? If so, is the player P-40E_RAAF always present in the A/C folder as well?

Most a/c initialization problems generally come down to missing aliasing details.
