Some Milne Bay missions will be part on my PNG Campaign. Here's some pics as RAAF P-40s attack Japanese Barges at GoodEnough Island. The barges were to be used to transport Japanese Troops for the Milne Bay Invasion. The troops were there to rest and relax before the invasion. All 7 barges were destroyed on the beach.

Great stuff, The Battle for Milne Bay should be better known, Milne Bay is remembered as the first defeat of the Japanese on land during the Pacific War.

There are some excellent books:-
Milne Bay 1942 - The Story of 'Milne Force', researched by Clive Baker and Greg Knight, published by Australian Military History Publications, ISBN: 0-646-05405-8
&
The Decisive Factor - 75 & 76 Squadrons - Port Moresby and Milne Bay 1942, by David Wilson, published by Banner Books, ISBN: 0-646-04867-8

The 8th Bombardment Squadron USAAC equipped with Douglas A-24 operated from Seven Mile Strip at Port Moresby and attacked Lae and Salamaua airfield.
The Japanese Ace, Suburo Sakai was based at Lae during the time 75 SQN operated from Port Moresby.
The US 35th & 36th Squadrons flying Airacobras operated from Port Morseby.

Good stuff Talon. Great idea for a campaign.

I recently finished an excellent book titled "The Ghost Mountain Boys". Its about the American 32nd Division whose mission it was to march across the Owen Stanleys and protect the right flank of the Australian Army who were fighting north along the Kokoda Track- pushing the Japanese back from Port Moresby to Buna. The expectation at the time was that a Japanese landing at Milne Bay would be a threat to the Aussie right flank.

Seagull,

There is a Milne Bay Campaign already. I have it and have been updating it with new planes a scenery.

Hello Talon

Looking forward to the updated campaign. I have had the pleasure and privelage of meeting some of the veterans who fought in The Battle for Milne Bay. There are stories of the Kittyhawk pilots taking off, and as soon as they left the airstrip they began firing on Japanese troops. One of the major attacks carried out by the Japanese was across one of the airfields but the Australian and American troops were waiting for them. No more moving forward for the Japanese forces after that. It was also the first time in Australian military history that the Australian Air Force, Army, and Navy all fought together in the same battle.

Great stuff Talon. No doubt your AI P-40s will benefit from your work on the DP, cfg and AIR files.
