Milviz Cessna 310R Manuals, Paint Kit, And Almost Time For Release

Good afternoon all. Well this will be the final "update" about the 310R. The files have been packaged up, and sent off to SimMarket just moments ago. Whether it is up today is in their court, but we have asked for it to be posted up for resale as soon as they can. There will be an official release post whenever that happens, but for those of you that are like me who hit F5 awaiting your favorite add-ons to come out you might get the jump on it first before I get a chance to post it. Going to keep this one short so I do not take to much time of your day. If you follow the link below it will take you to our forum where we have put up the official paint kit, and manual. Also before the end of tonight I will be putting up information on our forums on how to recieve support for the 310R once it is released. The final price is set at $30 USD. So download the POH and breeze through it to see if the product is something for you. Hopefully you like what you see, and we will see a bunch of Cessna 310R's flying the virtual skies in the either today or tomorrow.

EDIT: Jumped the gun on the price, it was meant to be $30, not $40.

What a great way to start off a holiday weekend! I too hope it sells well! We all need the 3rd party community to survive.

$30? That's it?

(&%&#%^#@! another add-on I have to buy.

Stupid reasonable pricing....

This is the second (as far as I know) aircraft of a SOH member to be recreated or FSX. Last year my Supercub was done by Mike CYUL, and this plane by Colin's great team is owned and operated by Mr Ken Stallings. I think this adds a great degree of realism, especially in this case. It is hard to imagine a closer approach to the light twin experience in the FS series.

Milviz is with this project releasing their first fully independent FSX aircraft, and I think it will be very well recieved.

Cheers: Tom

Stallings is not an SOH Member.

I think that the point here is that the model was made using actual references from an owner/operator of the real thing. Along with sounds recorded by that person.

It's a bit irrelevant (to me at least) whether or not Ken is a member here... Let's keep it on track please.

It's irrelevant to me too but it's consistently being used as a selling point when to some people it is probably reason enough not to get it :mixedsmi:

There are other models though by the looks of it. Aren't there?

No 310's that I'm aware of... Ken was a member here and I don't know why he's not now but that's none of my business. What matters to me is that a real pilot helped design the flight sim version - that's enough to buy right there.

It's not that he's a member (or not) of SOH that is being used as a selling point. that's irrelevant. the selling point is that HE is an actual 310 owner operator. That IS the point. And, he was more than generous not only with his time but also with his knowledge. Kudos to Ken for his patience and assistance...

It wouldn't be the first time that a real pilot beta tester came up with a laughable train wreck of an add-on! That's the problem with pilots - if you ask a hundred of them to come up with a flight model you'll get a hundred different flight models.

I meant are there other aircraft in the package other than Stallings own? I can't find any info to find out but I seem to remember there being 3 aircraft in the package?

I'll download the manual and see if it says.

The link discussing the other models is here on the first page of this forum.

Ken is a flightsimmer himself. What you refer to as "a real pilot beta tester" is not the same thing. Ken has been around a long time and is known by quite a few people. Milviz is not just slapping a "tested by real pilots!" label on their add-on.

What difference does it make how long he has been around. These forums are full of flightsimming real pilots who work on add-ons for money, for their ego or for other reasons. The fact that it is Stallings in particular is what is being used as a selling point. I'm just saying that that's not neccesarily a good idea.
I dare say there will be various tweaks to the flight model after it's released anyway just as there are with most other add-ons which have been beta tested by teams of real pilots. That seems to be the way of things these days.

I'm glad to see that there is a range of aircraft in the package though and will read the reviews with interest once it is finally released. I also think $30 looks like a good price.

Looking at the list of names in the "Credits" section of the manual (page 116), I'm pretty convinced that the flight model of this product will be as close to the real thing as you can reasonably expect to come in a $30 addon.

I just hope Simmarket get to work early tomorrow :jump:

I can confirm that having a real pilot as a beta tester isn't a guarantee for a realistic plane, even if he owns the actual plane doesn't always help.
There are quite a few cases where e.g. real pilots make the mistake to mixup stickforce and actual reaction of a plane.
I was lucky that Ken is highly knowledgable and he knows a lot about flightsims. He actually re-checked all possible flight conditions in his 310 just to compare them to the Milviz one.
Even the unlikely conditions are realistic as she will e.g. enter a flat spin VERY fast if you add full power on one engine when flying below Vmca. ('Normal' spins are also possible of course.)
You can trim her for hands off flight on one engine but at low speeds she's a real handful.
It wasn't easy to re-create the 310 and to satisfy Ken (despite the fact that I'm designing planes for flightsims since the old Commodore VIC-20 times) , as the 310 has e.g. a tendency to dutch roll in turbulence with full main tanks, something that's not easy to implement into an FSX GA twin.
E.g. during the beta phase I made a real tiny change and Ken immediately responded that the approach speed at his 'standard power setting' is now 2-3kts too slow....
This twin is definitely as realistic as possible

I don't think so, as I corrected the FDEs for the Carenado Cessna 185 and made a completely new flight model for the Flight Replicas Super Cub. I'm one of the customers you mentioned who make the less-than-perfect-upon-release-planes fly realistic. ;)

Best regards

Bernt

No, that's just Carenado releases :173go1:
