Milviz F-100D is out

Getting closer. Now there's a SQL error message indicating the site profile cannot be located. Been over 24 hours now. I'm anxious to resume the discussions on the support forum. Anybody know what happened?

Massive server hardware crash and corrupted backups are making for a slow recovery. I just checked and it appears that the forums are back up.

It appears though that posts later than February 5th have been lost.

It has been awhile since I really got into a real complex paint kit.

Color me stupid again.
I need to remove a squadron insignia and tail codes.

I have drawn a complete blank on how and what to do to fill in the space occupied by the insignia, etc.

Any directions would be appreciated.

Russ

I SOLVED THE MYSTERY!

Jankees or Hank: would you perhaps consider a skin of the 32nd TFS based at Soesterberg Air base? This link gives many photos of several examples:
https://www.google.nl/search?q=32+T...UKEwjSle2R7PfKAhVG6xQKHUSPCkoQsAQIIg&dpr=1.85
Those bare aluminium aircraft can be a lot shinier than the camouflaged ones. Realistic or not, I like the shine of some of the skins in the Milviz package.

Here's the one from the former Dutch air force museum, sadly not in a great state:

Hi,

Our forums are still not working properly though the sales site is.

We're trying to find the issues and fix it but it's proving obstinate.

Please be patient whilst we get this resolved.

Thank you.

We have all the time of the world, Jankees. Very nice photo, Ferry!

Thanks!

I found it near the NMM about a year ago, sadly it didn't look any better then. (I do like the photos though!) Hope it was restored over the last year, might have to check myself later this year.

According to Wikipedia it is a former French air force F-100D:

F-100D

 • 54-2265 French Air Force (painted as 54-1871) - Militaire Luchtvaartmuseum, Kamp van Zeist, Soesterberg, Netherlands. It was returned to USAF, repainted in USAF markings and in 1976 to gate guardian at RAF Wethersfield, England. It was then removed 20 January 1988 and reported at the time to be destined for AMARC, to be held in storage on behalf of USAFM (now NMUSAF).

aha, my wife left me alone for an evening:

still very much wip, the alpha is not ready yet, and yes, I applied more paint to the nose than the pics above show, but that's a museum piece. I found very few pics of huns in these colors, but this one seems to suggest more color on the nose, though I may have overdone it a bit:

but I'm open for suggestions?

To Everyone,

Just to be open, the Factory, T-bird, and 796, were optimized to use the included speculars/fresnel/envmap WITHIN each folder (NOT the main texture folder). The other stock metal schemes also use the same speculars. However they are not custom. A word on the bump maps. If you use the larger bumps than the "MIN" provided such as MED or LOW, you will get an increasing extruded look. The larger bumps aid in the camo versions, but at least to our focus group made the all metal birds look less realistic with large seams etc. in the skin. (I'm not saying you've done this Jankees...just an FYI to anyone reading this).

Don't forget the Gun radome...I'm not sure that any birds had them painted...as it would have interferred...but you never know! I've simply never seen them painted in any image.

@ Jankees, Looking fantastic as usual!

@Zsolt, don't forget the inner intake gun radome. It's located on Texture#5, see the factory scheme for placement and size. Looking good!!!!

I envy the speed at which you guys can operate! I'm a slow mover!!! LOL

Specifically, what do you think?
I use the MV default paintkit!

yes, the inner gun sight is part of the paint kit. It's under the New Aluminum texture. However if you want to make your own, The inner gun radome is located on Texture #5. If you look at the factory fresh texture#5 you will see 2 Black squares on Left hand side upper texture. That is teh inner radome. It was left out of the camo, but it is a small error that should be fixed on anyone who does repaints. Otherwise the error perpetuates. You skin looks fabulous otherwise! :encouragement:
