Milviz F-4J Repaints

Just a side note, Johan, but as you aren't a repainter, you probably don't realise that almost all paintkits ban the repainter from making money off repaints if the developers' PK is used. That's a normal condition.

Most developers don't like people making money off their efforts - i.e. creating a livery for a model they created and using the paintkit they created - to make money for yourself. If you don't use the paintkit and create textures yourself from scratch, basing positioning on the existing paints, then that's a different issue, but "use the paintkit" usually means "don't make money off our model and paintkit".

I'm not going to comment on the developer using the paints - that's between the repainter and the developer.

I never said that repainters should make money on their own of products that are not theirs. What I was and am saying is that if repaints are put in a release, then the dev or firm should remunerate them for it. After all, it would be part of the product released.

No pictograms needed. I can read. I'm not an ozzie Wombat.

I don't have a dog in this fight but, it looks to me that all that needs to be said has been written. Isn't it time to lock this thread? Just the ramblings of a neutral observer.

Indeed. We all know now what certains firms think about intellectual property and how far some of their servants will go.

It's sickening. No respect for the consumer whatsoever.

I'm not a painter, but I do care about honesty and fairness. You're saying that because you release a paintkit, that painters should not be paid for their work because they use the paintkit?

I recommend that you put up your paintkit in some Asian sweatshop where you can have people work for a piece of bread and some water.

You've lost a customer. I've got every thing in your catalogue and will now delete them all.

Johan

Actually, you did say exactly that, Johan. Emphasis mine.

I certainly wouldn't object to Milviz using a repaint I had done if they felt it was good enough. I don't have the Phantom so can't join in anyway (being extremely broke has that effect...) but it's far from unusual that developers ask if repaints can be included in future patches or packs, either. Most say yes when asked, but not all and I've never heard of bad feelings either way when that happens.

There is no comment I will make on the fauna of the Antipodes, either. I've smelt enough bovine excrement over the last few days... Staying on a dairy farm has that effect. :adoration:

However, in my opinion, you are making a very large Himalayan mountain out of a Mourne little green bump, Johan.
