What config change are you worried about? the "HIGHMEMFIX=1" entry? its one of the more nessesary fixes for your fsx.cfg these days, not only does milviz recommend it, but many developers and tweaking sources do as well including many members here.

Appreciate all the feed back ,what I mean't by changing aircraft is the following ... when I'm ready to swap out one jet for another I hit the escape button and then hit the "end flight" tab and this is where the flt sim ctd.It refuses to take me back to the aircraft menu screen. I get the "fatal error meassage" from Microsoft and it ask's me if I want to reboot .Having the engine shut down as part of the process is not a concern.

If the above fix "HIGHMEMFIX=1 works where in the config file do I insert this line ?

I have some doubts as to whether or not its the HIGHMEMFIX thing. But i can only answer your questions in the Milviz forums.
 
.... just an observation re Milviz support.


Why does the F86 "Support Forum" seem to come and go from their web site ??

Do we use the "General Forum" for our questions or the "Support Forum" ?


Don't misunderstand my thoughts the Sabre is a terrific and I'm enjoying every flight.

The forums are always up...

The himem is not the solution to the ctds. However, and I will be honest here, this is almost certainly a conflict of some kind. We "may" not be able to fix it... That said, anyone who is having these issues is free to return the product (if you bought it from us)...

We are continuing to look at and try to resolve this issue.

Great! Now, the only thing stopping me from buying it is that I will not have much time to fly it in the next weeks....
 
Gonna do KYWS tonight myself.....I found 5U3 close by and have been flying there for the last couple days.....nice open area with mountains all around. Very nice!
 
Ok....first off let me say that I absolutely love this "airplane" its one of my favs to fly now. My only beef and I hate to bring it up here is the pilot figure. I have looked at many videos of the F-86 to see the size of the pilot and how it relates to the canopy. I have noted that some have said that the canopy looks big....I think that that is wrong but infact the pilot is undersize. I say this onyl by saying that it was typical for the pilot to duck under the opening/closing canopy.

AGAIN...this plane is a fav of mine....I just pray the pilot gets a fix.
 
I know for a fact that the pilot was looked at long and hard. Many photos were reviewed in trying to make sure the pilot was correct in all aspects.

If he looks too small, maybe he was like the 5' 8" 135 lbs pilot I knew in F-4s. When everyone else lowered the seat, he raise it up as far as it would go. He also brought the rudder pedals as far forward as possible. :)


Of course, the next guy who flew the airplane was 6' 2" and all legs. :icon_lol:
 
Pilot was not given his wheaties. He was a very VERY bad boy. Didn't eat his veggies... now, every time the canopy opens and closes, his poor head gets whanged... be glad we didn't put that reaction in... :icon_lol:
 
Completely sgree...

...he's sitting too far back. The pilot typically sits far enough forward that he must duck when opening te canopy. No ifs, ands or buts about this. That said however, this airplane rivals the A2A P-51 in greatness...it is a blast to fly....

I'm not sure if it's the size of the pilot, but I think he's sitting too far back, like he's bracing his feet against the pedals and pushing his body against the seat (or like how I look at the dentist).

Sitting naturally there should be more space between the helmet and headrest.

I know the development pics showed a WW2-style seat pack chute, is that still there or is it a backpack style chute? Maybe there's too much padding under his butt and not enough behind his back?

we KNOW he is sitting too far back. The reason we did this is so that his head wouldn't go through the canopy strut as it opened... However, this will be fixed in the SP that we now plan on releasing for this (major?) and some other bugs...

We will now have him lean forward so that his head is where it should be and he will lean even MORE forward so as to avoid getting whanged by that canopy...
