Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated Tom Clayton has offered to post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Guys i download the now freeware yf-23, but for some reason it wont install the files. It creates the empty folders with nothing in them. Has anyone got this issue?

perhaps an AV issue? : https://milviz.com/Online_products/Manuals/MVAMSF4SJ.pdf --> have to not only disable AV prior to install, but after install and re-enabling the AV, have to exempt the FSX root directory from AV real-time protection / periodic automated or manual scans

Yeah tried that already. I was hoping if someone could install it, could put the contents in a rar folder for me and pm with it

Thanks for that it worked. Not entirely sure what you mean by entitled? I've done it for other people that were struggling or having issues.

And I certainly didnt expect anyone to do it, i was merely asking if they didnt mind.

Glad you managed to have it all sorted.

I admittedly would not recommend that method because it side-steps the copyright protection measures / EULAs and any licenses/registrations and perhaps any validation of the underlying sim install on your own system, and there is also the possibility, that a base sim or system file has to be modified and/or updated, and failing which, the software may not run as intended. Further, in many a case, there are often also copyright protections embedded within the add-on itself (especially payware), and if installed (to a temp directory) or extracted on one setup, and thereafter moved, the add-on may simply not load in the new setup or crash the sim altogether, and all said headaches only add to the obligations of the obliging other party

...anyhow I will argue that said method all in all, is bad practice; if you are facing trouble with an installer, best to either resolve the issue through the various trouble-shooting threads / FAQs on the web, and/or reach out directly to relevant developer support

cheers!
