Mission Builder question

I've been using MB in CFS2 for over five years now and I'm pretty familiar with it, but:

1). Is it possible to change the game coding so it's possible to use slew in Mission Builder?

2). Is there a code-line grouping available to put water rudders on seaplanes?

Ive been hunting around several sites for this info but havent had much luck. Thanks!

What do you mean? You can see the map of the whole world map in mission builder, and you can set any object anywhere on the map. Do you mean once you test the mission by clicking "fly"? You can enable the "Allow slew" cheat with Cfo_weather.dll or by editing the cfs2.cfg.

Unlike the FS series, CFS2's aircraft animation code doesn't really support rudder water effects on floaters when on the surface. But open the aircraft.cfg and increase the rudder_effectiveness=1.0 standard to 10 or better...and yes, it does work on water as well as land and sky. Although you're doing this for handling on water surfaces, this will have a secondary effect of more rudder authority in flight when desired.

Thansk for the info everybody-

Yea I meant after you actually begin your mission and start flying around. Never really understood why slewing was available in free flight/quick combat but not MB.

Thanks - I'll give the download a whirl and see if that enables the slew feature

Thanks for the explanation - I've had some success in adding tailhooks to aircraft by copying and pasting the coding between aircraft.cfg files, but the water rudder from my FS2002 cessna caravan never worked. I'll fiddle with your method and see what shakes loose -

Slew

Yeppers,

Have you updated your cfs2.cfg file with these?

I'm pretty sure "Allow_Slew=1" will let you slew while in the MB.

[CHEATS]
bomb_trainer=0
free_warp=0
ALLOW_SLEW=0
damagemsgs=0
show_damage_log=0

Just copy and paste into your CFS2.cfg file. Paste it at the bottom to find it easliy when you want to turn them on or off.

0=Off
1=On

I havent yet tried the CFO_Weather download, but when I tried Jagdflieger's method I couldnt locate the cfs2.cfg file anywhere in my cfs2 root folder, hidden or otherwise. Anyone seen/heard or dealt with this?

Hiya yeppers.

Well, if CFS2 is starting then cfs2.cfg file is there. Gotta be. Located in the main (parent) CFS2 folder.

Your windows explorer settings may be preventing you from seeing it:

Go to windows Explorere -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View :

-make sure "Show hidden files and folders IS checked (might be a radio button)
-make sure "hide extensions for know file types" is NOT checked
-make sure that "Hide protected OS system files" is NOT checked

As MR says, it's in your root CFS 2 file. It's almost always next to your CFS 2 icon.

Right click on it and you can open it with Wordpad or Notepad to add the cheat codes to allow slew. Just copy and past from my post above and add the lines at the bottom of the cfg file. It will be named exactly the same as your CFS 2 icon because CFS 2 generates it on its initial start up after installing the sim for the first time or when making and starting a new installation or updating your settings. In the screen shot example below, it is "CFS 2 ETO."

Tip: If you want to save all of your settings from a previous CFS 2 installation after making a new installation, just copy or rename the old cfg file in the new installation before starting it and name it exactly the same as your new installaion's icon. When starting the new installation for the first time, CFS 2 will read it and not bother with making a new cfg file. It will just use your old one with all of your old selections for detail, key commands and frame rate goals.

Thanks for the info fellas, I'm going to have to fiddle with this computer (new hp running windows 7) for a bit and see if I can get it to show. I remember seeing it on my old comp and old cfs2 discs, but somebody got into my apt and made off with both of em:mad:

In the meantime, I gave out and downloaded the CFO Weather file and that seems to be working just fine, so I guess that solves both the slew and the rudder problem. Thanks for all the help! :salute:
