Mission Building Question

Using the CFS3 mission builder, when I set a flight of enemy aircraft to attack a certain facility, they don't. All they do is fly to it and continue to their next waypoint, without even firing a shot!
Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong!

Hello,
I guess you found the random factor built into the CFS3 game engine when it comes to the facility targeting..
There are several ways to over come this..

1) place a mission target tag over the target and this will cause the AI to attack..

2) you can set up the AI attack group as pairs, Not a (8) eight aircraft flight..Matching waypoints and speed..This will also cause the AI to attack..

3) you can change the "priority" numbers of the target also this ensures the AI see the target as a Higher priority to hit..

4) it helps if you have the AI set as expert also, not rookies..

5) I often place a(enemy) AA gun within the target you want to attack and then set the AI to attack this object..

Some facilities have units within the facility (vehicles, Building etc) that the game engine will spot or not spot.. Bridges have a high priority for some reason, where as Buildings have a lower priority again for some unknown reason..

Whoever set up the game engine in CFS3 needs to hung, it doesn't make it easy sometimes getting things done, and the priorities for targets are Rubbish..

let me know if you sort this out, if not I can look at your mission and set it up for you..

I am getting mad with a pathfinder mission I'm building for the Atlantic Wall pack due to this problem.

I've spent several evenings on it and it still doesn't work...

I'll post later a recommendation from Steve that seems to work fine in nearly all configurations.

IThanks for the help, but I've read through and followed all the steps and I still get the same problem no matter whether I select 'attack with rockets' or 'attack with all weapons' etc. I even tried using different aircraft but the problem is still the same:banghead:

could it be something to do with windows 7?...

anyway, here is the mission in its most basic form if anyine would like a look:

Try this:

use spawns and mission target facility. Place the mission target facility or mulitple MTFs on the exact top of the target you want destroyed. Zoom in with MB till you are at .6 view.

Then make a spawn or multiple spawns and set it up to spawn and fly directly to the facility within .1 or .5. Set up a second turn at 1.5 from the facility and then attack with all weapons. It will work every time. The spawn will attack the closest ship or facility to the invisible MTF. You can try search and destroy, anti ship etc until you find the setting that works best for a specific aircraft.

Spawns are much easier to control than AI flights of aircraft. You can have them spawn any distance out and fly to right on top of the MTF before turning to attack.

This come from a parameter in buildings, ships and vehicules xdp files: Priority="

cjcz7, your possible problem is that you try to destroy Tower Bridge, I don't know if AI aircrafts can do this.

Ok, I managed to get the enemy to attack, even on tower bridge!:icon31:

But... I then tweaked the mission a bit and now the aircraft don't spawn at all!

This is the first time that I have used spawns and does anyone known if there is a tutorial available anywhere?[/FONT]
