The second part...

Now, when I opened up the British side to the CFS1 Battle of Britain campaign, you fly a mission where you protect the same convoy. However, the ships in the Estuary were static objects. Instead of going through that arduous process again, I decided to cut and paste the entire convoy section into the British mission after I deleted the static ships, and then fixed everything so that the numbers were correct and the mission loads properly.

The problem is that when I load the mission in MB, two of the ships in the Estuary appear as airbase locations, with a neutral designation. (Basically, a Gray / silver "X")

I know it's because of the conflicting ID's, but how do I go about fixing this?

(I sent these missions to Cody Coyote, but since we lost our wealth of knowledge in the server crash, I thought this might be a good thing to discuss)

In addition, I will be using this technique on other missions, so I'd like to work out the glitches.

Hi Rami,
You must have Airbase.Dat entrys that match the unit_id numbers.
ie. 9252,9250

I see you have id's 91xx and 92xx

You might get away with doing a search for "id=92" and replace with "id=93"

Nope. My airbase ID's end at 9073, so that isn't it.
 
Hi Rami,

I would double check. The Stock Airbases.dat file starts with id=9000 and goes to id=9077 then the next one is id=8000 to id=8051.
So you see it is not necessary that your id numbers be in sequence just your runway.xxx numbers.

I went back to my old "Corpo Aereo Italiano" tricks...making the convoys for the German missions, and then switching the sides of the mission. Simonu reminded me of that trick.
 
Hi Rami,

Dang I just figgered it out.

1. Load mission in MB
2. Click on grey airbases and change name or nationality. This changes them into american amblances.
3. Save misson
4. hand edit mission and find new unit for american amb. change to type of ship you want and change unit_family to 5.
5. now your grey airbases are ships.

Oh well that was some problem.

Looks like a result, I have to admit, I gave up on line 3765 :costumes: (I did look, but there was no airbase entries, which is what I suspected to be the prob)
