Moneypak virus

Thanks Ickie. Between yours, Willy's, and Eoraptor1's endorsement, I'm sold. Downloaded and installed AVG. Ran a scan, and it found two creepy crawlies hiding in my computer. Zapped em both. Actually, both of them were in my e-book collection, and both were in programming books. I'm guessing they were both false alarms, more or less.

Most of these issue probably could have been avoided if you ran FireFox with the NoScript add on installed.

While Mediafire was probably not to blame it may have been an infected advertisement link on their website. With NoScript I can access a webpage and allow only the java script that I actually need. I can usually block all advertisements with impunity.

Rgr that Dave, but I need scripts to run. I test a lot of work stuff here, and a lot of that stuff is Javascript...

Sorry to read about this but as far as I am concerned as soon as you get on the internet you are at risk.:pop4::isadizzy:

That is what I was going to say, it will probably come back in time.

Right! But not if you format and re-install OS and FltSim's. That is what I had to do last month. Why fight it. Therefore I DO have my files backed up to external 'My Book', just in case-you never know. Nothing is 'safe' anymore.
