That's darned funny right there.

I've got robins making nests under my back deck. I don't bug them. But when they tried making a nest on my front porch light, I had to draw the line! Those weren't robins, though, but some other kind. Smaller. We have these bright red cardinal birds here too. They're really red.
 
How cool was that?? Great find. Imagine, a bird that's faster than a hummer. I spend my time attracting hummingbirds, and really enjoy them. During the summer months, we go through about a 1/2 gallon of liquid food a day (1 cup sugar to 4 cups water is all you need) I've even had the pleasure of holding a couple, until they could regain their composure after running into our old sliding glass doors. We've fixed it so it won't happen anymore, but hummers are very territorial, so they do fight quite a bit, which is why they end up running into things in the first place. Nothing like having one zip by your head, less than a foot away...lol
 
What I am trying to figure out is: How do the female birds see these movements? I mean, is their eyesight good enough to capture at 500 fps? Cameras shoot at 300 fps because the human eye only captures images at 24 fps, so that is more than enough, ditto for Fligh Sim.

Nice find and good research, but did they really have to include that MJ stuff? I mean c'mon, the guy did some amazing entertainment in his alter personna, but he was a freak in real life!

Creation is an amazing thing. Now here's a point to consider, why should the male birds be able to do this if the females couldn't see it? Not much sense in the ritual then I suspect.

I'm of the mind that these female birds are quite capable of seeing the whole display, otherwise, the male actions would be worthless, as there were obviously other means by which the female would chose to accept the courtship. Take Eagles, hawks, and other birds of that nature who have exceptional distance focal sight ... certainly far above man's distance focal sight. Each created with reason.

I agree. I enjoyed the presentation until "that reference". Even though I feared it from the onset just based on the title of the article.
