Work continues on the Rising Sun Beta. The Beta was released to the team for testing and I began to work on filling out the pearl airfields with facilties. once the facilties are completed on some of the airfields work will begin to improve the airfield textures. Mission building has begun for pearl and there is a long list of aircraft yet to be added to the install.

Just a reminder, when the beta is released to the community it will be a beta with lots of work to be done in the future.

Following are screenies of work on Hickam field, g-max use to place facilties and some screenies of in game results. The texture being used is of a 1940s plan and 1941 airial photo superimposed upon it.

Yes that looks fantastic what your up to, nice hangars.

Are your P-40's facilities put in the buildings folder or are they flyables from the aircraft folder? I'm having trouble modding the a/c files for each of the sqdn's a/c. I'm using ndicki's notes to convert, but the textures don't show up except for wing and tail lights. Any tips please. thanks

Lewis you've asked this question before.The answer when you first asked it is the same today. Seperate THEATERS and not part of PTO but a Seperate install.

The reason I asked is because I would like to install this into CFS3 but it would need scenedb coordinates to do so.

Rising Sun is stand alone and is not suitable for placement in Europe. RS is 7 theaters in the Pacific and Far East.

The P-40s are unit entries in a single facilties.xml file which is the same size as the airfield facilties.xml file The p-40s are aircraft.

Sounds like your m3d is being corrupted or not being edited properly for each of the aircraft. The hex editor is touchy and you must not use a spacebar and only use keystrokes or the mouse to move to the different letter boxes.

You must make sure that the replacement .dds file name is the exact same amount of positions that the original .dds file.

When you finish the editing make sure to save before closing.

p-40 = player flyable.

Statics go in buildings folder

Both can be called out in a facilties file. You do not need an individual facilties file for each unit. Multiple units can share the same facilties file.

Too bad you can't get RS and PTO in one theater, then we could simply have European and Pacific theaters. Now that Talon mentioned it I kind of remember the issue. These are not ships like wake because these are too big or something like that. I guess then that you are creating individual land maps for each RS install.

 
One install with 7 different theaters which are selected at the front end, similar to ETO era selector. The Pacific is just tooooooooooooo many square kilometers to fit within the constraints of the CFS3 engine.
